Jonas Brothers Secret Movie Screening

Jonas Brothers had a secret screening for their new 3D movie. From Kelly:
‘I’m in the Jonas Brothers fan club, and two days ago, I got an email from them saying that there was going to be a secret screening of the Jonas Brothers 3D movie for people in the Dallas area (only people in the fan club that lived near Dallas got the email and the screening was at a mall in Lewisville).

You send in your information and they randomly draw to see who gets to go (there was probably only 50 people there). Well, I got to go, and we waited in a roped off section for about an hour and a half, then we FINALLY were able to go in! We weren’t allowed to bring cameras or cell phones so no one could video tape the movie or anything.

We waited for a while, and then camera crews starting coming, so everyone knew something was up. The Disney people came (they were the ones that organized the thing) and everyone was waving at the camera and everything.. Then, the Jonas Brothers stylist walked in with two other people I didn’t know and everyone started screaming. Then, Denise and Kevin Sr. walked in! Everyone FREAKED out! So, all of the sudden, you hear Joe’s voice and then Nick, Joe, and
Kevin walk around the corner. They talked about how we were one of the
first people to see the movie.. and said they were gonna watch some of
the movie with us. There was two cameras taping them and one taping the
audience. They sat on the same row as me and my friend, about 5 seats
down from us.

Everyone, of course, kept looking down at them and not
watching the movie lol. I didn’t see Kevin, but Nick was leaning
forward and resting his head in his hand and bobbing his head to the
music :). Joe was tapping his foot some.

But, ten or fifteen minutes
into the movie, the Jonas Brothers, their parents, and their stylist
all ran out of the theatre. Like, RAN. Really fast. I turned my head
and saw JB hop down the stairs and run around the corner. Some girls

chased after them, but I didn’t! :)

And there’s even more! Thanks to A Little Bit Longer, the Jonas Brothers have eclipsed the first-week sales generated by fellow Disney Channel juggernaut Miley Cyrus, who stars in the “Hannah Montana” series and films. Miley’s Breakout sold nearly 371,400 copies to debut at #1, or close to 150,000 fewer copies than the Jonases. Breakout sold another 84,700 copies last week, and falls two spots on the chart to #4.

I came in not expecting anything from Demi Lovato. I was happily surprised. Although her album, Don’t Forget, is aimed toward young teen girls, the album isn’t bad for anyone who is a fan of pop/rock music. Lovato is better than Miley Cyrus vocally and shows strong song-writing skills. It’s amazing to see a girl who is 16 performing, because she has a lot of potential, both vocally and lyrically.

“La La Land” is a great way of opening the album. It’s sugary-sweet and yet exclamatory of her position as a teenage girl. The dating angst in “Get Back” is interesting and shows an edge that other Disney Channel stars lack. It was a great choice to be a single for Lovato. The first three tracks are amazing; other standouts are “Don’t Forget,” because of its interesting melody, and “Gonna Get Caught,” which is an interesting girl-anthem. The album as a whole is a pop-rock fun time that is safe for children to listen to and parents can connect to.

The order of this album is where Don’t Forget fails. You could stop listening after the track, “Gonna Get Caught.” Songs like “Party” and “On the Line” are a little weaker than the first few tracks, but benefit from being sandwiched by some good tracks. The song, “On the Line,” really doesn’t fit, because of the Jonas Brothers; their vocal style doesn’t fit the overall feel of the album and this track was clearly added for the Disney factor. “Two Worlds Collide” is decent, but could have benefited if it was the second or third track. The track, “The Middle,” has no place being in this album. It’s repetitive, and it is one of the weakest vocal tracks. Also, I would have appreciated if “Until You’re Mine” was a completely slow ballad without the annoying drums that kick in during the chorus.

I will give credit where credit is due. Lovato co-wrote several of the 11 tracks and some of the tracks show a lot of writing potential. “The Middle” doesn’t fit, because it wasn’t written by Lovato and she doesn’t have the same intensity or connection with “The Middle” as she does with her own music.

In comparison to a lot of the Disney Channel performers, Lovato blows them away. That isn’t saying much, but she definitely has room to grow. She’s better than someone like Ashlee Simpson as well. Lovato succeeds in hiding some of her vocal shortcomings by a strategic arrangement and some background vocals.

There is a connection that Demi Lovato has to her audience with her vocals and writing style. I can see a less vocal Kelly Clarkson in Demi Lovato. The album has a similar sound to Breakaway. If Lovato can survive the test of time, her vocal confidence can grow, and she gets a good set of producers who will let her have some creative space, she can succeed in the music industry with her connectability.

It’s always been a little bit too easy to compare the Jonas Brothers to their teen pop forefathers Hanson, as they’re also an adolescent trio of brothers who play their own instruments and write much of their original material, all rooted in classic guitar pop. Initially, this comparison made sense, as their 2006 debut, It’s About Time, bore an unmistakable similarity to Middle of Nowhere, but just two years later when the group delivered its third album, A Little Bit Longer, it was clear that the Jonas Brothers were a pop phenomenon in a way Hanson never were. Of course, the Jonas Brothers were helped immeasurably by the marketing might of Disney, who turned the group’s 2006 stiff into the bona fide 2007 hit Jonas Brothers through saturation play on Radio Disney and countless TV appearances, including a guest-starring spot on Hannah Montana. By the time A Little Bit Longer appeared in late summer 2008, the trio’s popularity rivaled that of Miley Cyrus, but they were better poised for a cross-generational crossover than the former Ms. Montana, as they had a stronger grounding in classic pop. A Little Bit Longer trades heavily on that foundation, so much so that it seems it was designed to be a teen pop album adults wouldn’t be embarrassed to play. All the lingering goofiness of their first two albums has been stripped away — there are no songs about taking rocket trips to the year 3000 — along with any ounce of fat, which gives the album a mildly mature vibe, particularly when the power ballads surge toward overly dramatic choruses. Fortunately, this maturity doesn’t dominate, as there is plenty of levity here — most appealingly on the mellow shuffle of “Lovebug” and the good-natured dig at shallow groupies on “Video Girl” — and as most of the record is devoted to punchy power pop like the addictive opener, “BB Good,” A Little Bit Longer winds up with a nice, skillful blend of bubblegum and ballads, never tipping too far in one direction of another. It’s a nifty trick that’s much harder to pull off than it seems — countless other teen pop bands have stumbled as they attempt this balancing act that the Jonas Brothers pull off so effortlessly here — but the key to its success is that it is pitched perfectly between frivolous, disposable pop and meticulous mature craft, so as the Jonas Brothers continue to grow they might wind up losing that sense of fun that is integral to their music, but with this record they hit all the notes just right. Every once in a while you have to bite your lip and admit that you were wrong. When I first heard about the fact that Camp Rock star Demi Lovato was putting out an album, I though for sure that it was going to be another bit of bland Disney Channel emptiness. I figured this review would be mostly negative. I was wrong.

While the album won’t fit everyone’s tastes, I have to admit: not only does Demi Lovato have amazing vocal talent (something Britney Spears never had) but she also knows how to create emotionally captivating music and just plain rock out. This is a really good album with rich and varied musical texture.

On Don’t Forget, Demi Lovato takes her voice to some beautiful places, proving that can handle a wide range of vocal challenges. And the depth of songs such as Until You’re Mine are enhanced as Lovato moves between these wide ranging vocal places in the course of a single song, taking the listener on an amazing emotional journey.

Every once in a while you’ve got to put yourself on the line and make a bold prediction. Based on the brilliance of her debut album Don’t Forget I can’t help but believe that Demi Lovato will be seen as the greatest musical talent to come out of Disney, possibly ever. But what I see as the more impressive accomplishment is that the quality of her music will extend her fanbase well beyond the typical tweens of Disney.

Guys it is real!! I was there I promise I’m not lying the reason that jb had a film crew was because barbra Walters was with them and it’s probably for a special she is doing. They also ran out so that people wouldn’t notice them leaving and follow them! As for the movie desciption we don’t wanna spoil it! Promo clips for the set quickly boosted the fact that 6 of the albums songs were written by insanely popular sibling band Jonas Brothers, but the name dropping isn’t necessary—Demi’s incredible vocals should be the focus.

Opening track La La Land is a wonderful introduction to Lovato’s talent. Demi’s sweet yet powerful vocals compliment this electric guitar heavy number nicely. Trainwreck is the perfect storm of Pop and Rock. It’s bubbly with a small dose of grunge.

The set’s only guest appearance comes from super-group Jonas Brothers in On the Line. The 80’s sounding, bouncy duet proves that not all Disney associated acts are purely hype. These kids have it.

Title track Don’t Forget, Two Worlds Collide (dedicated to best friend forever, Selena Gomez) and Believe In Me are gorgeous ballads that showcases this rising stars mature-beyond-her-years voice.

Demi Lovato isn’t a household name—yet, but she surely has the talent to become one with this impressive debut. You don’t see too many teen pop stars with real singing chops in the biz so when you find one as good as Demi is, they’re pretty hard to forget.

Produced by John Fields (with Jon Lind and Kevin Jonas, Sr., serving as executive producers), “A Little Bit Longer” covers much musical and emotional ground, kicking off with the joyful jam “BB Good.” Says Joe of the track, “It’s a big sing-along song, and it’s fun.” The funky and danceable debut single, “Burnin’ Up,” keeps the party going, with Big Rob, the brothers’ hefty security guard, rapping midtrack. “It’s about this girl,” adds Joe. “Maybe she’s at a party, and you feel that immediate connection. You both know it’s there.” Though relentlessly upbeat, most songs on “A Little Bit Longer” explore star-crossed standoffs and missed romantic opportunities. Songs like “Shelf,” the hard-rocking “Pushin’ Me Away” and “One Man Show” survey love’s unequal playing field, bad break-ups and the defiant isolation that follows. “‘Shelf’ is one my favorite songs on the record,” says Nick. “Basically, it’s about a girl that has a gallery of hearts.” Other songs take a light-hearted look at the craziness of fame and fortune. “Video Girl” paints a portrait of the shallow wannabees dotting the entertainment landscape (” Move to L.A., got no talent/Not even like you won a Miss Teen pageant”), while “Lovebug” starts out as sweet-tempered acoustic love song before ending up a crashing Queen-like rocker. Of course, the brothers made sure the album breathes. The power ballad “Sorry” features classic JB harmonies and an eternal message of forgiveness. But the song that will have people talking is “A Little Bit Longer,” Nick’s stunning account of his struggle with diabetes. With strings underscoring a plaintive piano/vocal, he sings about his battle (”A little bit longer and I’ll be fine/Waitin’ on a cure/But none of them are sure”). Recalls Nick, “I was having one of those days where I was discouraged. So I went into this empty hotel ballroom and wrote this song.” Adds brother Kevin, “Nick sings this song every night and it brings people to tears. It’s amazing.”

    The good:
“Burnin’ Up” – Justin Timberlake may have passed this song along to the boys. It’s interesting to hear the Jonas Brothers exploring different avenues and doing it admirably.
“One Man Show” – The kids, and maybe some adults, will be playing air-guitar to this song.
“A Little Bit Longer” – It’s surprising that this is the last song on the album–it is the one slower track that actually doesn’t try to be a pop song. It’s a nice ballad that definitely doesn’t suck.
“Video Girl” – This is the kind of song you could imagine Avril Lavigne singing about taking girls to task about wanting to be on MTV with lyrics like: “They all want the money/They’re all insane.”

    The rest:
“BB Good” – You could see this being on a soundtrack to a tweener movie.
“Shelf” – One of the heavier rock tracks on the album–that doesn’t sound unlike something Cheap Trick might rock.
“Lovebug” – Very sappy and not as catchy as one might expect from the boys.
“Sorry” – This song is too far off track from the rest of what is essentially a rock album. This sounds more like a song for NSYNC.

    Frankly:
Let’s not get too caught up with ourselves, the Jonas Brothers aren’t Cheap Trick, however you can’t deny that both bands have some things in common: pop-rock songs with elementary lyrics and catchy hooks. Yes, Cheap Trick fans will want to take me out back and beat me for making the comparison. Sorry, but there isn’t a huge difference besides the massive Cheap Trick songs and these mass produced pop-rock hits.

Ok So here’s another album from hollywood records. If you didnt know by now is owned by disney. Well anyways I am here to review Demi lovato’s debut album. I was surprized actually when I heard this. There were a couple of songs I didnt care for but it was pretty good. It’s pop rock! So anyways Demi gets help from the jonas brothers and we get Don’t forget. We are introduced to the first track Lala land. Which is a warm welcome to get the feeling of what this album is going to sound like. The second song which you should know by now is Get Back.

I have heard that they changed kiss me like you mean it to hold me like you mean it. Which i don’t understand why.. She’s just saying kiss nothing explict. Sometimes disney doesn’t make sence to me. But that doesn’t bother me. And if you notice in almost “almost” every song you could here nick and joe. Which they are in a song On the line. Which is really good. I also think Demi’s voice is something I havent heard before. I just love the uniqueness she brings to every song, not like the standard pop sound we are used too. I wasn’t a big fan of demi but now after hearing this cant wait to get the second one. So anyways his is a good album nice rock feeling, I recommend listening to worlds collide.

    So I give Don’t forget

More people seem to be invested in Miley Cyrus’ trip to adulthood and maturity than will vote in the election. Ever since her conception at the hands of the robots at Disney, Miley’s been sheathed with the unavoidable fixation of the media and the unyielding adulation of fans everywhere. From the iniquitous Vanity Fair pictures to other shots of Miley in various stages of undress, her maturation has been a veritable goldmine for our celeb-obsessed culture and pervy granddads.

All the while, Ms. Cyrus has been coated in the ditzy gloss of Disney mania. Given the mantle of the Innocent Teen, Miley betrayed us all by acting like the Normal Teen and getting busted cold for it. The truth came crashing down like a ton of glitzy bricks: Miley Cyrus was ours and she blew it.

This girl can’t grow up. Not yet. We’re not prepared.

So Miley apologized for the Vanity Fair stuff, denied a few rumours here or there, and was back in our good graces right up until the moment she started talking about a Sex-less show and her new album. Her new one was going to be more adult, more mature, and it was going to have nothing to do with that Hannah Montana crap.

    Uh-oh.

Called Breakout, Miley’s latest is amazingly quite good and often very telling. The most evident and distinguished characteristic of the album is her voice. It’s quite good, not “OMFG good” just yet, but it’s certainly quite satisfying to listen to. And she’s not afraid to take risks with it. I expect she’s able to exhibit her vocal qualities better than any member of Danity Kane. Yeah, I went there.

Don’t worry, parents, Miley’s not going all Madonna on your asses. The “provocative” nature of Breakout is largely confined to being dissatisfied, missing out on life a little, and kissing boys… ever so lightly… on the cheek. No bare skin, no backseat romps, no drugs, no smuggling immigrants across the border in the back of Billy Ray’s pi

Breakout, Miley takes us with her on a Rock’N’Roll journey. The music is infectious and the hits are undeniable! ‘ 7 Things’ is Miley’s Hit single! A perfect follow up to her Top Five radio Smash Hit ‘See You Again’! With three albums released by the age of 15, Miley has already had the level of success that most artists only dream about with over 10 million albums sold! Miley’s first recording Hannah Montana Original Soundtrack Debuted #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and is Certified 3x Platinum. Miley’s second release Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus Debuted #1 on Billboard Hot 100 and it is Certified 6x Platinum.

    The good:
“7 Things” – This can’t be compared to anything Avril has done, like so many critics have tried to do, because it’s not possible to take it seriously. All you have to know is that its a huge hit and will be for a long time to come. It is definitely addictive and no matter how hard you try to forget the chorus the more it stays in your head.
“See You Again” – The rare track that doesn’t sound contrived in its attempt to appeal to an older audience.
“These Four Walls” – Might have sounded better in the more capable hands of a country artist like Carrie Underwood.

    The rest:
“Breakout” – Another track ripe for top ten radio and will surely be a hit no matter how much it gets hammered by critics and haters. Sure, it’s not great but every little tween will be singing it this summer.
“Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” – A sped up version of the original without the amazing vocals and playfulness.
“Fly On The Wall” – The entire song is weird and doesn’t make any sense. The vocals and music are bizarre. Maybe it’s good that I don’t get it.
“Wake Up America” – If you hear this and laugh its okay–because it is completely ridiculous. A happy pop song about the world falling apart and how every little thing we do matters. In a perfect little world of Hannah Montana this is true–then again if it makes kids care a little more it can’t be so bad.

    Finally:
There has to be some concern for parents whose kids are under ten and fans of Hanna or Miley. It appears that the record label is gearing up for a mature Miley. This could be a massive mistake as the little pop princess isn’t the next Avril. The whole makeover might come off like M.C. Hammer trying to be a gangster rapper. My two cents: Keep Miley cute full of sugary pop hits and let her grow up naturally–don’t force her to be Avril when she doesn’t have it in her.

    She cannot sing.
Not only in an opinion-type way but vocal wise, she sucks.

And her acting is so unbelievable.
Like when she’s nervous and does this huge gulp thing, on HM.
After this show ends, Disney will help her and she may book a few jobs but than she’ll just fade into nothing.

    She has no talent.
    Yes, she isn’t stage scared.
    Yes, she isn’t totally ugly.

    But she has no talent.
There are so many talented people who don’t get the credit the deserve.

Than again Disney isn’t known for casting such great actors/singers.

I’m so happy Disney has stepped it up at least a little.
Selena Gomez is a great actor and Demi Lovato is a great singer.
And vise versa they are both alright with the opposite.
    That’s a change.

i love the album; i think it’s amazing. i love how she’s not Hannah Montana on this album. seems she’s outgrown that in some ways. yes, she does have young fans, but…once she starts maturing more & leaves behind the Hannah Montana image, which i’ve heard she’s doing in the near future, then…those fans won’t necessarily hang onto her. little kids change obsessions & “idols” so much. disney will come out with some new pop sensation, & those little kids will follow THEM instead of Miley.

Miley doesnt need the little kid fans to be successful, she has tween & teen fans who enjoy her music just as much as the 5-8 yr olds do. & now that’s she producing more mature music, it’ll appeal to them more than the kiddy stuff.
i know, personally, this album is my favorite of all hers so far. with the other 2 albums, the music was geared more towards the younger of her fans. so some teens were a little…not ashamed, but somewhat embarassed to listen to it…now that she’s produced an entire album as HERSELF & ONLY HERSELF, the music is more mature & geared towards people her own age

If you’ve even bothered to read this review, you’ll at least have a passing interest in Miley Cyrus – whether it’s because her Hannah Montana character has driven you to distraction via the medium of younger siblings or relatives, you once rather fancied (gruffly admired, for the men) her dad Billy-Ray’s line-dancing country soundtracks in the ’90s, or you’re genuinely curious about the newest pop poppet on the block.

A child star, the now-15-year-old actress/singer/entrepreneur/all-American golden girl is no stranger to the music business – and it shows on ‘Breakout’, her second studio album and first with no affiliation to Hannah Montana. The immediate and obvious comparisons are with Avril Lavigne; although there are no paeans to ‘Sk8r Bois’ here, Cyrus’s musical style is almost identical to the Canadian’s debut album – although there aren’t half as many quality pop numbers here as there were on ‘Let Go’. Instead, there’s a clutch of confidently-delivered guitar-pop songs that are difficult to get excited about – as well as an awful cover of ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun’ that destroys the sentiment of the original.

The important thing to remember, though, is the market that Miley Cyrus is aiming for; teen girls who have grown up with the singer and are willing to subscribe to her accounts of heartbreak and ‘stupid boys’. But surely, surely there are teens intelligent enough to see through saccharine lyrics like “Suddenly my cell phone’s glowing up with your ring tone / I hesitate but answer it anyway” (the awful Goodbye), or “Wake Up America / We’re all in this together / It’s our home, so let’s take care of it / You know that you want to”.

Of course, there’s the usual brace of passable tracks; Fly On the Wall breaks through from the ear-glazing uptempo pop/midtempo ballad formula, and closer See You Again borrows heavily from Gwen Stefani and Kylie. Even as albums by fifteen-year-olds go, though, this one has little real heart.

The album’s opening track, “Breakout” tells you all you need to know about Cyrus’s first stab at being her own woman. The track sounds like a Corrs song played at a Blink-182 pitch. The result is something that sounds bizarrely like adult contemporary, with a safe and peppy message of hope and fun. “Every week’s the same/ Stuck in school, so lame/ My parents say that I’m lazy/ Getting up at 8 is crazy”, sings Cyrus. You can’t say it doesn’t rhyme. Of course it would probably be too much to expect profundity from Cyrus. To be fair, her lyrics are admirably frank about her age-bracket and interests. Still there’s a fundamental disconnect between the folksy naiveté of Cyrus’s words and the hyper-glossy songs that back her simple anecdotes.

The real problem with Breakout isn’t that it’s an album of pre-teen pop rock, but that it’s an album of pre-teen pop rock aspiring to be a Celine Dion record. The music has been engineered with all the focus and energy of a mainstream diva, but the emotions have been crafted by someone with a learner’s permit. The result feels metaphysically dishonest. You have to wonder who Cyrus is trying to sing to in “Wake Up America” when she wonders aloud, “Wake up America, we’re all in this together/ It’s our home so let’s take care of it/ You know that you want to.”

Breakout works best when it focuses on quick doses of girlish energy. Cyrus’s cover of “Girls Wanna Have Fun,” and the PG disco track “See You Again,” are direct expressions of ebullience and youth spilling all over itself with new emotion. These will definitely become summertime torch songs for any fifth graders in your household. The meandering ballad “Bottom of the Ocean,” is also likely to be a song that fuels its fair share of elementary school crushes.

It’s ironic that Cyrus’s first album without the Hannah Montana moniker is called Breakout, since it’s really just a continuation of the disposable cotton candy that she’s been recording for years. The album does fill a basic human need for music that distracts for a few minutes with some peppy beats and manicured pubescent melodies about having “fun,” but it’s music you’ll forget as soon as it’s stopped playing. Consider it McDonald’s for your ears.

    Download Worthy:
    “Breakout”
    “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”
“See You Again (Rock Mafia Remix)”
    “Bottom of the Ocean”

I was so excited when they showed up, but then when they left I was upset. I thought they might have done like a meet and greet because there were so few people there. They sat on my row and I don’t think any of the row paid attention to the movie, we were all staring at the three of them hahahha.

    FAIL.
    epic FAIL.

miley cyrus CAN sing. just becuase she doesn’t have an high pitched voice like christina agulera or whitney houston doesn’t mean she can’t sing.
she has a low register and is quite good at it. and her country voice also makes her unique.
like “get ready get set don’t go”. she sounds really good in that song because slow songs fit her voice. if you heard that there’s NO WAY you can say she can’t sing.
and please girl, demi is good. but she needs A TON of work if you consider her “great”.
selena’s acting is very very mediocre. now i could actually see her having a hilary duff career.
only being casted in teen movies and slowly becoming irrelevent. wait…she’s already irrelevent. miley has something about her…star quality. that will keep her in this buisness for the long run.

    ———————————–

Miley Cyrus on a where are they now show? HA-HA-HA-HA! Seriously – HA! Are you even being serious? Do you realize what you are saying? I’m sorry, but the truth. Straight up truth is in 3-5 years the Jonas Brothers will be those people. Miley’s different. And I can go on and on, but I won’t. Just WATCH, WATCH, Miley is going to be one of those people who stick around forever. Just remember that. Okay? And her not having any talent is just about the funniest thing I’ve ever heard. Shes only been on Disney Channel. How in the world can you judge her acting skills? That’s what Disney wants! That’s the kind of acting they require. Because these are kids shows, and kids laugh at stupid things, so they have to do cheesy acting. Judge when she does things out of Disney, but its too early to judge her acting. And her singing is out of this world unique! She has a great voice, while she may be no Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston or Christina Aguilera it doesn’t = bad singer. She has an amazing voice for her age. It’s unique. It’s not typical like all these teenybopper stars you hear. So the only one needing to get their facts straight here? It’s you ;)

kay, of course miley fans aren’t going to like the jonas brothers new album, because obviously you love miley, where as you might only like the jonas brothers. for myself, i personally think miley’s album was really good, but it seemed as though all the songs were written about nick. it really did, and i love miley, so dont get me wrong. the jonas brothers albums is INCREDIBLE. they’re deffinately breaking out of the “disney” mold people have put them into. they came out, and showed that its not all about their happy, jumpy stuff. i love the boys, and i’ll always support them! they’re amazing!!
