wow. i dont think you can just automatically assume that they "spent all their money on drugs." people just say that to make themselves feel better about the decisions they make. granted, i tend to ignore too, but for reasons such as walking in desolate areas as a young girl isn't the safest; not its they're fault they're that way. sounds a bit elitist.

I would have walked by him too. Some people who are homeless and need money will never be happy and could mug you. I'm not saying every homeless person does that, but it does happen, I rather be safe. Also I know a few people who gave money to a homeless woman and I watched her and later she went to a restaurant and spent it all. Then she was back out the next day collecting money. If you really feel bad the most you should do is buy them a loaf of bread that way you know what they will do with it. Even then you're still at risk. She's very street smart, she knows better.
i get what your are saying but like i mentioned. i pass dozens of "homeless men" everyday. i can't help everyone i pass. there are other ways of helping the homeless aside from right there in the moment if you really want to make an impact.

if you do decide to do something for a homeless person, the best thing, in my opinion, is to offer to buy them a sandwich or something, so you know they aren't doing anything that they shouldn't with the money. and im not saying all of them would use it to buy beer and drugs. but... yea.
the bottom line is i dont judge her any different then i judge the average person or even myself. i dont stop for every 'homeless' person i see. no, its not the most good samaritan thing to do, but i don't see how anyone can critisize her unless they themselves have helped every homeless person they have encountered.

How would you feel if you gave to a charity like the cure for breast cancer and you found out they used it to buy a vending machine for the workers. I would be pissed. i once met a homeless man at a car wash place with my mom, he was digging through the garbage and he was telling me and mom how i was lucky to have her and stuff and he was really nice and that made me change my opinion and start wanting to be more charitable

What he should do is go to a shelter to get cleaned up get a good night sleep then try to find himself a job. There are services to help the homeless, just many of them can't lower their self-esteem by doing that.

She was in the driver's seat and he was on the other side of the car, how was she supposed to see him? Chances are that homeless person would've spent the money on drugs and/or alcohol. A homeless person came into my parents shop once and asked for money. My mom said no because he reeked of alcohol and cigarettes. He said he was in the hospital last night and had no money to pay for the medical bill, but I don't buy it. If the person is just gonna spend it on booze and drugs, I don't give them money. I am not going feed his or her addictions which probably got them where they are today. Not saying that I do not give money to all homeless persons, I do give them money.
