"give her a break" is an idiom if you were trying to sound smart. "figure of speech" can almost refer to any sort of figurative language really. so yes, you are correct but if you were trying to make miley seem stupid for not using the more technical terms of literary/language devices, you failed terribly. also refer to my earlier comment if you think miley should have said "simile" instead of "metaphor". because again, miley is correct.
