ANYONE can be bullied, honey.
basically what happened was that her "friends" started getting jealous because Demi was getting more and more successful. those "friends" backstabbed her and made her life a living hell because they were never her real friends to begin with. it's very unfortunate but Demi learned her lesson.

I was a freshman last term and I got into all sorts of drama, but I never let that bring me down therefore I gained respect and even became friends with the older grades like the seniors and juniors.

If I had to add it all up, I would say that it seems that she was on the popular crowd but then fell out of their good favor, so they all turned against her (With a hate wall and everything). Both the regular crowd and her former friends teamed up on her and forced her to quit school.
