Girls Can’t Catch Blogs About Tour With Jonas

GCC recently joined US sensations The Jonas Brothers for the UK leg of their massive world tour, and had a fantastic time playing to some massive audiences! Daizy has written you all a blog about her time on the tour, including what it’s like to perform on a stage slap-bang in the middle of an arena, and how you can see some behind the scenes footage from the tour…

‘As you probably know by now us girls were lucky enough to tour with the one and only Jonas Brothers last week, and I have to say it was the most incredible experience I think we have had so far…

On the first day we did not know what to expect; the guys had been touring overseas before they came to the UK, so we didn’t have much information to go on until we stepped into the first arena. But we arrived at Birmingham complete with our suit cases and lots of enthusiasm! The first thing we saw was the stage and how different it was from the Girls Aloud tour. Not just because it was round, but also because it was slap bang in the middle of the arena!! There was certainly no where to hide on that stage, but as we were to discover, being in the centre of things makes you feel so much closer to the audience and able to connect with everyone all around you.

As soon as we had finished our sound check that night, Mr Jonas (the boy’s dad) approached us. He gave us a very warm welcome and said, Nick, Joe and Kevin would love to meet us, if that was OK with us! If that was OK!!? “Of course it was” we said!! They were so incredibly polite and friendly and made us feel very welcome. In fact the whole JB crew were warm, welcoming and friendly (they actually clapped us back to our dressing room after coming offstage on the final night – an unexpected but genuinely touching gesture, thanks guys!). We managed to get this picture straight after we first met the boys.

As we got ready that night we recalled the last night of the Girls Aloud tour when we thought it would probably be a good two years or so before we would play at the big arenas again, so we couldn’t believe we were back again in the same year!

As we waited under the stage ready to go on we heard our intro music along with screams so loud it actually made me jump!! It was goosebumps all the way that night, and for the other shows as a packed arena gave us the most appreciative welcome possible. That was the start of an incredible week which saw us also play Wembley twice, and close the tour in Manchester, with all sorts of fun and games in between, including Jess cutting her hands on our mirrored mic stands (she’s ok now by the way!), Phoebe sliding around onstage on her heels, us having the chance to meet lots of lovely fans in person, and the JoBro boys themselves asking if they could have a GCC t-shirt each!

We have been so lucky to be given this opportunity. I am now a big Jonas Brothers fan and I wish the best of luck to them on the rest of their world tour. We managed to capture some amazing ‘behind the scenes’ video and performance footage from the tour, which I gather will be made available on one of the Echo CD single releases in January. So anyone who attended will be able to relive some of the magic, and anyone who missed out will still get the chance to see the show. Remember to look out for that!
