Nick Jonas Les Miserables Marius ROLE
Nick Jonas is now preparing for his West End theatre debut, playing the role of Marius in Les Miserables at the Queen's Theatre in London for a three week run from June 21. Nick played the part of Gavroche in the last nine months of Les Miserable's run on Broadway in 2003. Cameron Mackintosh told Daily Mail:
'I went up to him at closing night party in New York and told him he was terrific and hoped that one day he would return to play Marius. We've been in touch a lot and, of course, since then he has become this world-famous star. He and his father and I agreed that it would be great if he came and played Marius here in London. He has bent over backwards to fit it all into his schedule.'
Nick has been rehearsing the music in the US but will begin three weeks of full rehearsals with other new special cast members in London in the next few days before giving his first performance at the Queen's. Joe and Kevin will visit him on Shaftesbury Avenue and see him on stage.

Yeah that's what I'm worried about. His voice worked for Broadway when he was a child but he's older now and the way he sings is MUCH different than how a Broadway trained guy his age would. I don't know if he has what it takes to really make this work and to eliminate the whining and such from his voice. That works with JB stuff but West End? I hope he does well.

I don't expect him to be a pro, music is what he is known for and best at. But if he wants to be taken a serious actor. This is the right route.

I'm excited for him and I've wanted him to be in play for long now, but his voice is not exactly Broadway. Neither of the Jonai's voice is.

I knew it! Marius in Les Miserables is a great role and I'm sure you'll do it proud. It's a much more theatrical way of singing but that where your roots are. Find your Broadway heart again and show them how it's done.

Aww, congrats Nick. I agree about the acting, but he's still quite young and has time to grow and learn. Besides, he'll be working and learning along side trained professionals- not more Disney kids, no offense of course. As for his voice.....lovely as it is, I never really thought of it as Broadway-like, but they wouldn't have cast someone they thought couldn't do it. Anyway, good luck Nick!
Do you doubters realize that he was discovered at the age of 7. They used to call him the Broadway Kid and he still holds the record for the most Broadway shows of all time for someone under the age of 11.
London wouldn't have asked him if he didn't have talent. He's been stifled for too long with Disney...if you went to his Administration concert you would have been blown away. He is so incredibly talented and I really think we've only just begun to see his potential.

Guys, Nick's voice is going to sound fine. Broadway voices and songs are MUCH different from his pop/rock songs. I'm sure Nick's voice fits way better with musicals than his usual stuff that he sings. And if it isn't, he has trained professionals working with him. I'm sure he'll do amazing.
