Everyone when they were younger thought that smoking was the worst thing ever, and now look at how many people do it at our age. Not that I condone smoking, I just don't think her saying this when she was around 14 is that big of a deal.

Music has changed, and technology has changed, but I don't think that people do.
Even in the 60's, 70's, etc, teenagers were doing drugs and getting into trouble.
It's just slightly different circumstances.

Now the world knows different, people like Miley know it's wrong, and can be dangerous, but that's what appeals to her.
She's spent most of her life trapped in the Disney world of being good, and although some people say like that (e.g Selena) for most, being clean-cut is how we start out & end up. It's just the middle that gets a bit misty (teen years)
Anyways, I wasn't that shocked.
Nearly everyone I know has had sex, taken drugs, got drunk or had an abortion, and I'm only 14)
Then again I do live in England where teen pregnancy is the highest in EU.
I've seen drugs up close. It's ruined some of my friends lives. Which is why I don't follow the crowd. Miley sees the sexy side of it. Part of the LA lifestyle.
Her circle of friends seems pretty messed up anyways.
Everyone just needs to move on from this subject, I was over it the day after the video came out.

I used to say I would have never smoked, never tried too but now I'm 18 and well, my mind has changed and its still changing. I tried though, even if when sometimes people ask me "do you smoke?" and I still answer with a "no", I know its not 100% true. But sometimes I do it, when I'm stressed. I know its not the wisest thing to do, but it happens. And I wish I have never tried. But I'm not used to smoking so that's not a problem for me, I buy like a packet once a year lol

Like many have said; she was younger when she wrote that book and people change. Although what she said is true, smoking of any sort is bad for your body. Watching the video, the girl that was recording in was egging her on, saying "you're not fucked up enough, you need more of this shit!" Of course Miley has her own brain and is old enough to know right from wrong, but the people you spend your time with are a reflection of you. If you hang out with people who party and smoke bongs, odds are you will end up doing it too. Still a little dissapointed in her. Maybe for Miley she was..but as far as Demi goes I believe she was the BAD INFLUENCE..I really think that is what happen between her and Selena..and I do believe the stories that she cheated on Joe when she went to Texas for prom I think Demi is a horrible person I am glad she is gone!
