Demi Lovato chatted w/ Seventeen about her eating disorders, new confidence and advice to other girls. Your message to girls? 'If you are going through that dark period, go to your family and closest friends. Don't put yourself in danger. It's very crucial that you get your feelings out, but don't ever inflict harm on your..
..own body because your body is so sacred. I wish I could tell every young girl with an eating disorder, or who has harmed herself in any way, that she's worthy of life and that her life has meaning. You can overcome & get through anything.'
Have you been tempted to go back to eating disorders? 'Yes, there have been times when I definitely have been tempted to get rid of my dinner. But I will deal with it for the rest of my life because it's a life-long disease. I don't think there's going to be a day when I don't think about food or my body, but I'm living with it, I wish I could tell young girls to find their safe place & stay with it.'
How do you stay in a safe place? 'I don't let anyone's insecurities, emotions, or opinions bother me. I know that if I am happy, that's all that matters to me. And it's okay to be selfish like that sometimes, when it comes to your well-being. Do what makes you happy, and don't care what others think.'
How do you define your personality now? 'I don't really define it by anything. I live my life every day, and if I feel like wearing combat boots one day and shoes the next, I will. I allow myself a lot of freedom and I'm very peaceful now.
I have come to realize that just making yourself happy is most important. Never be ashamed of what you feel. You have the right to feel any emotion that you want, and to do what makes you happy. That's my life motto.'

I think she's on the right path. I applaud her for putting herself in a position where she can help others that struggle with problems that she, herself - can relate to.
The overall advice was good, honest and realistic.

Now, that she actually has the microscope on her to be a role model for these issues.. she's sold her soul.
If she has problems with pressure and inconsistently (which is what has been proven in the past) I'm (IMO) not so sure that she can do it, and steer these girls that are hanging on her every word in the right direction.
Hopefully, she'll redeem herself and prove me and all the other skeptics wrong.

Glad Demi is finally being upfront and honest. Yes she will have to deal with this issue for the rest of her life IF she stays in the Hollywood scene. That is the only place where the scrutiny is sooooo much on how thin you look and they talk about you from top to bottom.
Demi is just helping teens,kids and even adults in the celebrity world and in real life who goes through the same thing but don't talk about it and even hide it.
I have seen tooo mnay celebs who one month/year is looking healthy and the next is looking like skeletor.
Kudos for a 18 yr old in the media eye to be truthfull and not worry too much about what fans, haters, peers and even the media says about her issues.
I think Demi is very brave at her age. Too bad if some people don't like to have this issue in their face all the time BUT it's a real BIG problem everywhere. If you dont
want to hear what Demi is saying ignore her,don't follow her on twitter and don't post on her posts. When you do to just say "I don't like her talking about this alll the time/she's trying to get attention/she is weak" then your just talking to hear yourself talk.
Clearly if one your friends is going through this THEY will not feel comfortable talking to you about it.
