Nick Jonas SXSW MUSIC CHAT

  • Anonymous

Nick has a lot of knowledge when it comes to music, producing, writing, recording etc. More than probably any other 18 year old out there. He’s been in the music/entertainment industry since he was 6. Wrote and recorded his first song at 10 and entered a label as a solo artist at 10/11. This symposium was set up for marketers/producers etc who are in the business to help their clients. Jonas Brothers are looked at as the forerunners of utilizing social media to promote their band.

They started on YouTube and MySpace way back and really they were pretty much self-promoted until they finally caught the eye of Disney.

Got to give it to the guy, he’s smart, he knows his shit and he’s damn successful.

This was only a snippet, the full interview was much longer…he was asked to speak on a subject by the way so when they kept asking about writing music for a brand they were referring to his work like the Wintertusk music for Wizard 101 and his song he wrote for Charice for Acuvue etc.

All those people seemed important! Yikes! And Nick really is doing what “feels right” vs just whats good for the career, which most musicians…don’t do at all. And its great because its real

letting your personal songs be “branded” to sell products for mega corporations is what i call selling out. most bands back in the day would’ve been embarrassed for their songs to be in commercials, especially rock or punk musicians, but not musicians today. it’s not just nickj. it’s not about the art anymore but squeezing all the money out of it that you possibly can. i just think it’s sad is all b/c i think he’s talented but has gotten used to being pimped out by his family, disney, his whole life

If that’s the case, Nick and his brothers have been selling out way before now, you know.

IA big time! But before he was writing songs for the Jonas Brothers & putting out new music that was at least connected to his name & face. Now he’s writing songs for no-name artists to sell contact lenses…..seems like a downward slide to me, but if he’s happy, i’m thrilled.

I have a feeling Nick doesn’t think the Jonas Brothers will work out hence the reason why he’s trying to make it as a producer which he seems to enjoy.

i like that he looked a little humbled or even possibly mentally challenged here. i hate when he starts talking like some arrogant boy genius who has all the answers… the nick in this video is a guy i can respect

I’m so proud to be a fan of such a talented boy! Love him!

He seemed nervous. I can feel the weirdness. It is awkward giving advice to grown men though, when you’re a teenager. REGARDLESS OF HOW ‘MATURE” someone is, it’s still odd.
