Occupy Movement Leader, ‘Miley’s All Talk’

mileycyrusliamhemsworthmalibumakeoutsession-433_03_0_0_0

Priscilla Grim, influential leader in the Occupy movement, said that Miley Cyrus‘ video in support was an empty gesture. She told TMZ: ‘I double dog dare [her] to fight on the front line of economic civil rights at LA City Hall.

Revolutionaries occupy, Ms. Cyrus.’ Miley will present & perform at CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute, hosted by Anderson Cooper live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA, on CNN, Sunday, December 11, 2011 at 8:00 PM.

And, stupidly, why is Pricilla Grim talking to TMZ and other media? She is seeking publicity and trying to get the message of her cause out to the public. She is asking the media for publicity! So it’s enough from the media, but not from Miley.

I double dog dare Pricilla Grim to practice what she preaches, and stop talking to the media in order to get support for her cause.

  • mfan2

Funny thing: she’s rich. She has money, just like the important men from Wall Street. Is she fighting against herself?

Against corruption. The Occupy movement supposedly isn’t against Wall Street because they are rich, but because the Occupy people feel the game is rigged in Wall Streets favor by politicians. Who get campaign contributions by Wall Street.

  • TakeOnMe

kuddos to him for having the guts to say that! and i must say i agree with him:)!

she already standing for it doing something that is completely out of her element of probably disney rules. she already helping them by bringing more attention to the cause more than any other disney girls dares to do because they are so robotic they do as what they are told except for miley who is not predictable. why don’t say I wish other will stand up for the cause and take an example like miley has done.

If Miley Cyrus wants “revolution” she should get up and fight for it.

I think the video would be a lot better if she was actually a part of the Occupy movement and the song was any good.

  • puddingtoes

Just talking about it doesn’t do anything. And as for claims that she’s “making people more aware,” this is sad in and of itself. Why are we suddenly relying on teen queens to teach us about Wall Street? Most people are already aware.

most of these protestors are angry recent college graduates who came into the “real world” with no job opportunities, and therefore no way to pay off their student loans. this is the only “productive” thing they’ve found to do: complain. and while I agree that something must be changed, the way they’re going about it is not the way to get things done; they can’t even offer a solution themselves! what are they fighting for if there’s no answer to be seen by ANYONE?! it’s just unnecessary drama caused by people who want to feel like they’re doing something.

don’t take it personally, mimi just attacks anyone who doesn’t worship the ground Miley walks on.
Mimi, you don’t know shit about OWS, so shut your damn mouth. you’re not being a good fan, you’re being a blind sheep. you’d stop breathing if Miley said it was cool.

second, while I’m sure Miley’s intentions were good, SHE IS PART OF THE 1%. yes, maybe she understands that her fans are part of the 99% and she sympathizes for them and wants to help, but I dare anyone to go up to Miley and ask her to help the 99% by donating ALL of her money to them, and live in a decent apartment lifestyle like so many people only wish they could be so lucky to have. let’s see how quickly she supports that.
on the other hand, the protesters are really annoying, and ridiculously stupid. they’re mostly composed of recent college graduates who have no job opportunities because of the low economy, and therefore have no way to pay off their student loans, and therefore are pissed off and scared, and taking it out on the government. they complain and complain, stating the government is fucked up (which it is, I agree; something has to be done, something’s gotta change) but they themselves can offer no solution. why fight it if you have no magic answer? you’re just causing issues for nothing.
and of course, these people have no idea how close to communism their ideas and “desires” are. as always, communism is great in theory, but it will never work in action. people are too greedy for it to ever work.

and then we have shitty people like Mimi who think Miley’s God-sent for doing a video. first of all, “Liberty Walk” wasn’t even written about OWS (obviously, as it was released in 2010), it was written about abuse and breaking free from it. the fact that the lyrics can just be applied was only an afterthought. second, again, let’s see how supportive Miley is when she’s part of the 99%. she won’t give up her money; no one in their right mind would, and that’s what’s so fucked up about this country, and that’s what’s wrong with our world.

Miley’s not all talk: She also sings!

This is not a good topic to make jokes about. We need a new post.

And this just shows how shallow you are, bitch. You only care about looks and that’s just damn pathetic.

  • jade_15

OMG, you read my mind. As much as I am against corruption (I’m from Brazil, one of the countries – if not the first – with corruption all over the government), I don’t believe all those famous people supporting Wall Street would donate all their money.

  • mfan2

People didn’t say Miley’s voice was not enough when publicity from her tweets caused the planning authority to reevaluate the public interest in Phillip Island.

  • Sparks

There are other pictures too, so you know.

Uh that would probably get her arrested. Would be bad for her acting career.

IA. She’s helping a lot just by “supporting” them.

Miley is helping in the only way she can,
but Priscilla Grim is right. Miley has made multiple videos for things (the Occupy protests, TWLOHA for example) but doesn’t really go any further than that.
Any help is good, but she doesn’t seem to see things through to the end…
    Just my opinion. :]

People are constantly asking stars to endorse their causes by using their star power as publicity for those causes. Even govenment type entities e.g. United Nations Good Will Ambassadors (Angelina Jolie). You can’t say that those people are right to ask stars to lend their voice, and also say that lending your voice to a cause is not enough. One of those groups is wrong.
