Joe Jonas Metro interview: Is the single about dumping Taylor Swift? No. That’s not about her. When I write songs I don’t say who they are about because I don’t want the audience to relate to what was going on with me when I wrote it. You say one thing and it becomes a big rumour.

What to expect from the album? A lot of the songs speak about going through the good and bad of relationships and everything I’ve been through for the past 18 months, the touring and the travelling. It’s everything from hip hop to a bit of dancey stuff: a lot of different styles. How’s the solo career going?

I’m really enjoying it. It’s a fun ride. And it’s a whole new experience. I see good things coming from my work, which is a great feeling. Joe told Ryan Seacrest he doesn't have Rihanna's phone number. It would probably be acceptable because music is the one thing where you can do whatever you want. Kanye West is the prime example. My favourite record of his is the ’808′ record because he sings the whole time. And that’s not usually what he does, but music’s open for anyone to do that.'

Whose careers do you admire? I look up to Justin Timberlake, he’s done quite a good job of his music with moving from *N Sync to doing the stuff he’s doing now, he’s a definite inspiration. What is the high point of your career? Performing with Stevie Wonder was an incredible feeling. He was amazing. It was a dream come true to meet him. We rehearsed with him for around four hours and it was so much fun but so surreal. Who do you like listening to at the moment? Frank Ocean is awesome and I love Chris Brown and Kanye West. I’m listening to hip hop and dance music at the moment. What’s the worst gig you’ve done? There was a show at a strawberry festival. They were celebrating strawberries. The sound went out and there were five people in the audience. It was before we became successful. You did a gig for Paper magazine and people threw basketballs at your head, apparently? I don’t know how that rumour started. That gig was very successful. Do you want to do something other than perform in the future? I want to act. I’m developing an acting project with my friend. I’d like to create more projects and do more acting stuff. It’s a love-comedy-action movie. I’m really excited for people to see it. Did you go a bit crazy when you moved out of your parents’ house? I live by myself in LA and have done for two years. You always have fun living by yourself. I had an awesome Christmas party two years ago. I had 300 people in the house. My friends are still talking about it. Do you regret endorsing purity rings? I wouldn’t call it ‘endorsing’. It was something I grew up with. You take some things of what you grew up with and leave some things as you get older and make your own decisions. Are you worried you’ll have a mental breakdown like your ex-girlfriend Demi Lovato? I’m just happy for her and that she’s able to have the time she needed to get the help she needed. She seems like she’s doing well. She’s a great girl. Would you want your own children to go into showbiz? I don’t know. I’d make sure they waited a while. It’s one of those things. My little brother Frankie is a young guy. I want him to be able to grow as a kid before he goes into it. You need to be able to make your own decisions. Anywhere between 13 and 20 is a good age for people to find themselves. Have you ever had a supernatural experience? I had a situation where I had a house with some roommates. A friend stayed there when I was on tour and police showed up at the house saying they had a phone call from inside the home. Someone had phoned and said all our names and that we were in trouble, but we didn’t have a house phone. We thought it was a ghost.
