and regardless of if the girl or guy is older, an age difference of that amount at this time is too much. 50 and 60 is much more on the same page than 18 and 28. they are both 10 years in difference, but an 18 year-old is just starting to live when a 28 year-old is most likely about ready to settle down. do you see the difference? sometimes it's not just the age, but the time when the people get together.
