..biggest problems with actors is actors have an assumption that they can do anything, which annoys me. If you’ve got actors on a set and there’s a problem, they’ll suggest an answer. Its like, ‘No no no no no, you don’t know. There are people who’ve been working on films for 20 years. They know. Ask them.
You’re not very useful to us now. Do your acting.’ Actors have a tendency to think they can just do anything. Look, I can sing, but that’s not to say I would be a good singer in a band. I’m doing a musical at the moment, but it’s not the same thing. I have a deep love for music and rock music particularly and bands, but I don’t think that’s in my future.'

doesn't upset me cause even though I adore the Jonas Bros, even I can admit that they aren't the greatest actors of all time.. for me, music is their strong suit.

THIS IS SO TRUE. i have a hard time finding a person who is fantastic at singing, acting and maybe another thing at the same time. i am not saying they are bad at all of it. most people are really amazing at one of the things (mostly the business they started in) and then they sort of don't really have a talent for the thing..... he is so awesome, and right in this subject!!!

I agree and disagree. It's almost as if he's trying to say that if you act you only know how to act and that's it, you can't do anything else. I'm an actor and have been in countless small films/music videos here and there and yet I went to school for 3 years for broadcast television so I know how to work everything on the other side of the camera just as well as I know how to act. You should stick with the things you're good at and love to do. If you love to act that's great! If you love to sing what should stop you from doing both if you can reach both?? It's if you're an actor and THINK you can sing but can't then that's when you should stick to acting... I think he just worded the whole thing wrong...

it's different with Disney stars. They start at what? 13 or 14 acting and singing? They learn to be good at both. Then later when they grow up they pick one or the other.
i think it all depends on talent level. Most disney people can't actually do both. but i do think some actors and singers are capable of pulling off the other. But i do agree that actors think they can do anything they want. Like since they are an actor it means they will automatically be a good fashion designer. I hate that.

He does say he is generalizing so I agree BUT STILL it depends on the person... EX: Like Miley she started out doing both, same for Nick Jonas and Demi. But like the other 2/3's of The Jonas Brothers they didn't and Selena didn't. Kevin, Joe, and Selena were good at what they did and they took on the other things on that they were horrible at.

It doesn't upset me but I think he's generalizing way too much. Take Justin Timberlake, he's just as strong an actor as he is a singer. Nick Jonas did an excellent job in Les Mis and Mr. Sunshine last year...far and above what he ever did with Disney...I wouldn't go and compare him to Leonardo DiCaprio but he's a pretty good actor. He just needs more experience.
There are also actors with incredible voices like Hugh Jackman. It is possible to do both and Musical theater is a great bridge to that.

Umm you kind of contradicted yourself.
Nick Jonas got his start in acting and singing on Broadway. I absolutely hate it when people say they aren't talented. He never would have landed 4 Broadway shows before the age of 10 if he didn't have talent.
I think Nick has come a long, long way with his acting. Forget about the Disney acting because that is all geared for little kids, it's over the top and exaggerated. I'm talking about Les Mis and Mr. Sunshine, both of which Nick did excellent in. He still has a way to go but he showed that he has some depth.

But in the case of a how called Hannah Montana about a singing pop star or the movie Camp Rock about a musical camp I don't think you should have to choose. I really don't think the Jonas brothers should have been cast for the movie since only one can act. They only put them in the movie to gain views from their fans.

Seeing if they have talent BEYOND Disney is the important thing. I like what the person said above about Disney being over-the-top. Nickelodeon is the same way. That acting is so blown out of proportion it's hard to tell who has true talent.
Watching Joe on "Hot in Cleveland", Demi on "Grey's Anatomy" and Nick in Les Mis and Mr. Sunshine this year made me see that they all have talent beyond what they could show on Disney. Miley...not so much. I think she comes across a little flat. Selena is a pretty good actress but not a good singer.
I didn't think Nick's acting was that great in the Les Mis 25th anniversary but maybe it was different when he did it at the Queens Theatre. He got better reviews there than for the concert.

actually miley stared doing both, she stared acting and singing way before disney, she did acting professionally in doc and she is really good in drama, and she sang with her father, they pick miley because they needed someone who could deliver both acting and singing skill in which she does an excellent job at what the producers and directors want. performing was a bonus for disney since miley is an excellent performer we know not everyone has that stage presence, take selena she looks terrible on stage and sound terrible, she try to be next miley but she don't have the gift neither does demi.
