Vanilla Ice, 'Bieber Will Be Forgotten'
Vanilla Ice told Huffington Post: I was 16 when I wrote 'Ice Ice Baby.' Sold over a hundred million records. And I had a weekend that lasted about three years, & I didn't know who I was, what's my purpose in life, when everything, when the snow globe settles, you know it's all shaken up and things are going right,
..left, crazy. But when it settles, you've got to figure out who you are, what's your purpose in life, where do you fit in, and all that. You look at Britney Spears she didn't know either, she had to shave her head, she's on drugs, she's freaking out, people don't know what the hell she's thinking.
That's because she was doing that transition. Now she's found herself, she's found her purpose, she's figured it out. You know what I mean? So my prediction about Bieber is that he's going to go through one of those weekends that lasts a few years because he's had such success as a child act.
Now to make that transition and keep it going because what happens is is his fans are all kids right now, 13, 12 years old, whatever, they grow up, and they're in 5th grade now, when they get into the 11th grade, people don't like the same music that they did in the 5th grade. [Unintelligible]
It's.. like, oh my god, I liked that in the 5th grade! You know, then something else new will come along and he'll be forgotten and he can try to put all the pieces back together so it's going to be entertaining to watch.

Bieber will be the exact same with him not being know as anything other than 'that bieber kid' After a few years EVERYTHING has to come to an end!I have believed the same thing, now I'm 18 and I used to LOVE the Jonas Brothers but then I had time over two years to realise that I didn't know real music. So now that a friend got me on Nirvana, aerosmith and even My Chemical Romance, AC/DC oh and so many others. I wondered what the HELL I WAS thinnking buying their album in the first place. I'm glad to say that I have NEVER heard a Justin Bieber song but I heard one time and started laughing. I can't believe fans say now that they will NEVER forget Justin, I'm sure when you have kids and met a guy or women that you love and marry them you will think differently about that. You'll say oh I remember him but I doubt you would really care about him in that scenario. You don't have to agree with my opinion but you don't have to bash it either. I totally agree with you, but you can't compare Miley Cyrus to Justin and the Jonas. I mean Miley Cyrus made the transition from a kid to an adult and she still has millions of fans. Selena Gomez will be forgotten as well in my opinion. Demi and Miley are the ones who will keep making records, movies and tours.
I think V Ice would have had a different outcome if the suits in the music industry didn't mess with his image. I see J Biebs path, who he is associated with, the social networking and transparency of the internet all create a different future than what V Ice experienced. And Britney? I think that Beiber will end up like the Jonas Brothers not as popular as they where. Only because a new act like Beiber for the Jonas Brothers will steal his thunder, you can believe that the Jonas Brothers are relevent because I do in away. But I don't feel as though they will come back together as a band and their solo stuff or at least Nick didn't do well. I hope yeah that they have a new album. But I have moved on slightly to other bands and found that the music that I once LOVED so much is NO longer the main music that I love anymore. If you love Bieber or the Jonas Brothers then awesome, but I'm just not that big of a fan anymore. I think I may have worded my other comment wrong but anyway. I have a hard time getting my point across the first hopefully that didn't happen the second time but if do. Then I don't think that Justin will stay as big as what he is. Obviously there will be a time where Justin like the Jonas Brothers will have a quieter career. So that what I was trying to get across, that they can't always be relevent forever and that I have moved on to other music. That the Jonas Brothers aren't my main music group anymore.

Four years ago, I was 17 and in love with the Jonas Brothers. I'd go anywhere, spend anything to see them, meet them, anything them! I was in love with them, thought they were the greatest thing in the world. My life revolved around them. I spent $800.00, a lifetimes worth of allowance to see them from the front row. I thought I'd feel that way forever and you could tell me no different. Well, four short years later I'm 21. I'm bogged down with college, hunting frantically for internships, and trying to figure out how I'll support myself for the rest of my life. Joe Jonas came out with a new song and though I'd passed by it several times on OceanUP, I'd never heard it until I heard it on the radio. And while I enjoy myself some Bieber once and a while (even saw him in concert, did not pay $800, did not sit in the front row) to all the die hard Beliebers out there, I gotta tell you; this too shall pass.
As both a bieber and Jonas fan I don't understand how putting one down is supposed to make the other seem better. Nobody knows what the future holds. He may end up like the jonas brothers (with a solid, though considerably smaller fanbase), end up behind the scenes as a mogul, songwriter,or whatever, or he might achieve longevity like Madonna, britney and Michael Jackson. Regardless of what the outcome will be, bashing the Jonas brothers will not change what is in store for Justin or his career.

You could say Miley is recognized because of Billy, but that is probably a regional southern twofer, vs. world wide. I think Selena is more marketable because she bends to the will of others more than Miley, and directors like knowing what to expect... Miley is a loose cannon in all the right ways, but could be seen as a liability by the industry execs.

Eh you really can't compare both. Justin is a solo artist, Jonas are a band of brothers, Justin has been famous for one or two years, Jonas have been famous for more than 5. Jonas are older and their fans are older. Right now they are in a transition phase from Disney band to adult acts maybe not as a group but as individuals and I think that Joe and Nick.. Not gonna mention Kevin because I just think he wants to settle down with Dani... I think Joe and Nick are doing the transition well. I don't think as a band they will be as sucessful as they were two years ago but as individuals who knows..

^ Is that really all you can say? You don't even have an argument to back it up. I agree with the first anon. In fact, I'm in the same exact boat. I was a HUGE fan from about age 14 to 17. Now I'm into alternative music. I wouldn't say that what they did wasn't actual music, because at the end of the day, they did write all their own stuff and play their own instruments. In my opinion, that's a little more respectable than the boybands who just sang, wore, and danced what they were told, without any instruments being played in sight. Still, it's a phase. It's always a phase. Yes, it's true that Bieber is really popular at the moment, but really guys, come on! V. Ice is right. Bieber is eventually going to become unpopular. You may just not realize it now. I remember the days when I thought the Jonas Brothers would live on forever...that obviously isn't the case today.

I agree totally. I mean its is the point of finding yourself but its also, most people who are fans of boy bands like the jonas brothers or people like justin bieber arent real fans. they only like them for their looks and when someone cuter or new comes, they stop being fans.
even i can admit that CBT was a flop, but the album had no promotion whatsoever and was pushed against Eminem's fucking comeback album, so the chances were small. You can't judge her entire career on that 1 flop though. tbh I feel that if she plays her moves smart, her movies will do good and her next album will do better.

Four years ago, I was 17 and in love with the Jonas Brothers. I'd go anywhere, spend anything to see them, meet them, anything them! I was in love with them, thought they were the greatest thing in the world. My life revolved around them. I spent $800.00, a lifetimes worth of allowance to see them from the front row. I thought I'd feel that way forever and you could tell me no different. Well, four short years later I'm 21. I'm bogged down with college, hunting frantically for internships, and trying to figure out how I'll support myself for the rest of my life. Joe Jonas came out with a new song and though I'd passed by it several times on OceanUP, I'd never heard it until I heard it on the radio. And while I enjoy myself some Bieber once and a while (even saw him in concert, did not pay $800, did not sit in the front row) to all the die hard Beliebers out there, I gotta tell you; this too shall pass.

I think its about timing and how you come off to your fans. For example U2. They have been a band for like 10 years i believe and they have the highest grossing tours every year for the last 4 years. Many young people dont know them which only says, young people arent always the best loyal fans to have.sure there are a couple but back in the day fans are more loyal

Yeah its crazy how loyal their fan base is. Even paul mccartney from the beatles still sells out stadium by his self to this day.

Eh you really can't compare both. Justin is a solo artist, Jonas are a band of brothers, Justin has been famous for one or two years, Jonas have been famous for more than 5. Jonas are older and their fans are older. Right now they are in a transition phase from Disney band to adult acts maybe not as a group but as individuals and I think that Joe and Nick.. Not gonna mention Kevin because I just think he wants to settle down with Dani... I think Joe and Nick are doing the transition well. I don't think as a band they will be as sucessful as they were two years ago but as individuals who knows..

Nobody has really done what Justin has done, or accomplished what he has accomplished in 2 years. Social media plays a huge part in Justin's popularity, and social media is not going anywhere. Safe to say Justin's not either..

^ Is that really all you can say? You don't even have an argument to back it up. I agree with the first anon. In fact, I'm in the same exact boat. I was a HUGE fan from about age 14 to 17. Now I'm into alternative music. I wouldn't say that what they did wasn't actual music, because at the end of the day, they did write all their own stuff and play their own instruments. In my opinion, that's a little more respectable than the boybands who just sang, wore, and danced what they were told, without any instruments being played in sight. Still, it's a phase. It's always a phase. Yes, it's true that Bieber is really popular at the moment, but really guys, come on! V. Ice is right. Bieber is eventually going to become unpopular. You may just not realize it now. I remember the days when I thought the Jonas Brothers would live on forever...that obviously isn't the case today.

Yeah but your more famous when you come out. Even birtney was. She sold like 2.5 million in a week like 10 years ago and her latest album feme fatale only sold like 276,000 in the 1st week. I think justin will be around for a while but lets face it.

to be honest, this makes complete sense. I was a HUGE jonas fan..still am, but they are quickly fading. Nick, Joe, & Kevin were once the most famous/wanted young men in the world & then Justin came along and now its his turn to have that 15 minutes of fame. In a few years someone even bigger will roll into town.

I absolutely agree with him. Justin's current fans will like another type of music and move on to older artists. And the younger kids will like someone other than Justin. So he'll have to make that musical transition to either rock star or something that appeals to older audiences.
This happens to young actors, too. Look at Zac Efron. He's having a hard time trying to find his nitch. Young stars can't hang on to that intense success forever. Making those transitions can lead to depression and confusion that results in heavy drinking, smoking cigarettes and doing drugs. It's not easy for someone who makes it big too young. Just look at all the child stars who have crashed and burned.
