Not discussing his personal life on a talk show is a completely different situation than walking to lunch with his girlfriend. He goes on television to talk about his career, not his sex life. the problem is not what we think will happen, it's that we don't even think it should have happened. She is 26, she likes to drink and go to bars, she just got out of an engagement to a guy who had kids.... she has nothing in common with Nick, except they both write music, like thousands of other people. The relationship doesn't make sense so naturally people aren't going to be able to understand it and therefore don't approve of it. As rational animals, we stay away from things that irrational/don't make sense.
