Miley gives about 10% of her net earnings to charity. It comes from being from a family well off enough to actively give back to society. Her net worth is over $120 million.
Her last big outlay was the upcoming trip to Haiti for the Starkey Hearing Foundation. She had to bid on that trip, essentially agreeing to pay all the costs involved with some money left over for the foundation. And every singly year the school she sponsors with Blessing In Backpacks helps feed 1,000 kids over the weekends for around 36 weeks. If it's $10 per kid per week, that's $360,000 a year in an open ended commitment for many years. And who knows, it could be $20 per kid, we don't know.
In any case, Selena is only catching up to making what Miley gives to charity because she is doing much better financially since she has been dating Justin Bieber.
