Demi Stay Strong ‘Life In My Shoes’

demistrugg

‘I was most definitely nervous about opening up to the cameras. And I was very hesitant to say certain things, but once I was around them for a while, I felt more comfortable and really opened up towards them. My goals for my fans? It’s to really inspire people/ That’s all I hope to accomplish. If there is a young girl at home dealing with the same issues that I’m dealing with, I want to be able to reach out to her and tell her that it’s going to be OK.

You know, I speak about a lot of serious issues and I really hope to get awareness out there about the issues that I dealt with/ But at the end of the day, I just want people to see what it’s like to be in my shoes. I kind of talked about the journey that I’ve been on and I just want people to take away a positive message. It gets better, you know?’

Teen Vogue interview: What kind of advice do you have for girls going through similar issues? Get help and be vocal about your problems. Don’t hold anything inside, because that will only stall your recovery. A lot of girls and boys that are dealing with bullying and dealing with issues like I was dealing with are confused and they’re experimenting with different coping skills. It’s really difficult to give advice to people who don’t know what they have yet. I wish that I would have been more vocal about it earlier.

What do you wish you could tell yourself a year ago? I don’t know exactly what I would tell myself.. I would say to be more cautious of the decisions I make in the future. Prevent some of the mistakes happening in my career and my friendships and love life.

What should girls do if their friends are going through tough stuff? It’s hard because I know people who do have problems, and it’s really hard to confront them. I would try to talk to talk to them about it, and if they want help, they’ll open up. And if they don’t, you can’t really help them and it’s not in your control.

Why did you first decide to open up about your issues?

I wanted to speak out because no one else had. I needed someone else to look up to and there wasn’t really anybody except really, really thin actresses on the cover of magazines.

What’s been the proudest moment of the last year or so?

My proudest moment was when I won favorite pop artists at the People’s Choice Awards. I had a lot of stiff competition. It was crazy to think that I won. It was a really big confidence booster.

What was it like to have the MTV cameras around for so many hard moments?

I got used to it, sometimes I’d forget that they’re there. I just tried to stay as alert as possible.

Girls have a tremendous amount pressure to look and act a certain way. What are constructive ways for dealing with this?

Look in the mirror and tell yourself you’re beautiful no matter what. Tell yourself to stay strong and keep going.

What’s next for you?

Touring! I’m going to be playing a lot of shows this summer and doing a world tour. I’m really excited to see everyone on the road. I have a really great support system around me and they keep a good head on my shoulders and help me. I feel like I’m in secure hands and I just stay focused and work towards my recovery every day. The connection with my fans is so incredible, I can’t even explain it.

I personally think she’s doing great, people aren’t perfect and she wants to help people and she’s talented so I think her keeping on going is a good thing, she wants to be an inspiration to others, just because you have daily battles with something doesn’t mean you can’t keep on trying <3 and her faith really shows that she wants to keep on going, and btw people have bad days, we aren’t perfect that’s what Demi is trying to tell people, she’s not some perfect Hollywood star, she loves the Lord, knows she has these struggles and it will always be a daily battle for her

Actually relapsing is part of recovery.

She basically said on the MTV documentary that she’s cut and purged side treatment. So yes relapses happen but I think maybe she would still be getting help

If it is true since( a little while ago she had mentioned that she read an article that was completely false that they changed everything she said) than that is a part of her recovery relapsing into old behavior is quite common as long as she realizes she relapsed a bit and can correct it before it get to bad than she is fine. Everyday is a battle for her she has good days and really bad days. Just like there are days that she can not sleep and not feeling great that is just a part of life we can’t change that.

I don’t think she should quit the business, her being so honest is honestly changing the industry now that big name stars support her and similar causes.

She’s doing amazing for being relatively fresh out of rehab and not being in there for so long!

She’s inspiring girls even if you think she’s being overdramatic and playing it out too much, it’s still a situation that should never be taken lightely.

For her own good, I think she needs to go back to treatment. I’m not sure she’s still purging and cutting herself (that magazine might not be legit), but if she is, that’s definitely NOT OK.

admits she has purged and cut herself since leaving treatment

and no one on her team things maybe she should go back? no, a world tour is a much better idea -_____-

This girl should just quit the business. Get out of Hollywood and get help because evidently she needs it. Her tweeting at 2 & 3am saying she can’t sleep and talking about how bad of a day she is having is a sign she still isn’t in the right state of mind. Her disorder like she says “it’s an everyday struggle.” She deals with it on a daily basis and being in Hollywood, where there is pressure to be thin, isn’t the place she should be.
    Idk that’s just my opinion.

    this.
I appreciate the care and love Demi has for her fans and potentially suffering teenagers in the world, but this is where Demi needs to be selfish (as so many of her haters call her) and put herself first. she should be getting help, not giving it.
