‘The Hunger Games’ opened with $155 million at US and Canadian box offices, the third-highest domestic film opening. Internationally added $59.3 million from 67 markets for a global intake of $214.3 million. The film ranked behind only ‘Harry Potter’ finale and 2008 Batman movie ‘The Dark Knight,’ Lions Gate said.
The Hunger Games is coming to TV in 2014. ABC Family, which is also home to the Harry Potter franchise, has acquired the network television premiere rights to the just-released hit film and the franchise’s second film, Catching Fire, the network announced today.
