One Direction SUED FOR $1 MILLION!

Simon Cowell’s record label, Syco Entertainment and Sony Music are being sued for $1 million by US band One Direction because UK band One Direction is causing consumer confusion and destroying their goodwill,

..reports The Hollywood Reporter. One Direction UK is being threatened with losing its name. One Direction US do NOT have a record deal, but they formed one year before 1D UK and filed a patent for the name.

Annie went to their private perform in Sydney!

Yeah I know… but I guess it’s a really Pop music thing… in other kinds of music lots of bands appear with no good looking members and they remain. It’s all about which kind of audience you wanna reach and how hard you work to promote yourself. If you are not “attractive” but want to be a huge hit as One Direction is now, it pretty impossible nowadays.
But when I was a teenager I used to listen Backstreet Boys, Hanson… it was the same as now, when I grew up I started discovering other types of music, and lots of artists that don’t have songs on the radio but live from their music as well. So it also depends on opening your ears and discovering new stuff :)
And if the nowadays teenagers bands that go unnoticed really want to live from music, I suggest them to keep trying, because is not all about being discovered from one day to another and hitting all the radios and becoming super popular. Most of the biggest bands ever worked their asses off to reach the top and they were not exactly teenagers when they did it.

Exactly. If their patent was indeed filed a year before U.K. One Direction was formed, and it holds merit, it would basically come down to “How much is it going to take for you to hand over the rights to the name, then shut up and go away?” I hope it doesn’t cost too much, but it’s looking to be in the area of $1 million right now.

But you really shouldn’t stereotype teenagers. I know tons of teenagers who consider 1D and similar artists to be crap. I personally would consider myself a “Disney girl”. I love people like the Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez etc. But I don’t love them b/c I think their music is genius. I like them b/c their music is catchy and fun to sing and dance to. I also like to follow artists that I like as a person. But although I love these types of artist, MY FAVORITE BAND IS MUMFORD AND SONS! They are not really young or attractive. I love them b/c its quality music. What is wrong with liking both types of music??

One Direction are an American pop-rock band, as well.

They obviously aren’t as good looking, therefore you probably have never heard of them because chicks aren’t into guys who don’t look good, so you’ll never see them on sites such as OceanUp.

They technically had the name before One Direction (U.K).

Simon will buy his way out of this.

    Both bands are bullshit, anyway.
When you say “irrelevant” it doesn’t necessarily mean less talented, however in this case, it does.
One Direction (U.S.) are a very auto-tuned band with cheesy lyrics.

That doesn’t mean that One Direction (U.K.) are any better. If they’re weren’t good looking, charming, adolescent males, they wouldn’t have been popular. I just don’t understand how in our society, it’s alright for a group of (older) teenage boys to be singing about love, heart-break, and being a group of stereo-typical guys with over-produced, repetitive, un-original lyrics to be popular – but when an unattractive male does it, it suddenly becomes ridiculous?

I’m so sick of this beautiful world being polluted by you shit heads. It’s not fair that this society poisons young people to show them, you have to look like THIS to get THIS, therefore you’re better.

    Bullshit.

haha wow. I hate it when people say things like this. I personally believe that beauty is not everything. But really, who wants to watch singers and actors who don’t look good? its not like One Direction doesn’t have talent. They all proved they can sing while they were on X factor. Are you telling me you don’t like attractive people? that you aren’t attracted to some people because of their looks? I guarantee that you are. I’m a teenage boy, and a prefer my musicians hot b/c well they are hot! It doesn’t mean I don’t take into account their music, but why does it matter if they are good looking.

  • Anonymous As Well

I’m so sick of this beautiful world being polluted by you shit heads who actually think we like One Direction for their looks, Probably true for Directionators but not Directioners. The boys have amazingly down-to-earth personalities and are actually quite normal unlike other mainstream artists who act like they’re the best thing that ever happened to the world (Nicki Minaj). The fact that you overlooked their talent and judged solely from their appearance makes you the bigger shit head than us who are “polluted by society.” They’re talented and the looks are just a bonus. Praise Allah for that. HAH!

You were saying if an attractive male sings about love and heartbreak with unoriginal lyrics, it’s okay, but if an unattractive male does it, it’s ridiculous, then you gave no “unattractive” male who people claim is ridiculous to back up your statement. I was asking who you were referring to with that claim, not stating I don’t follow an unattractive male singer.

If you look back at my post, you’ll see that I reference, people don’t notice any terrible looking artists, despite their music being shitty or not. Period.

I suppose I didn’t mean “unattractive” rather than more mature. If an older generation artist were singing lyrics, such as “Baby, you light up my world like nobody else,” he would be considered a disgrace. But since these guys are young, attractive, charming lads – they get the ‘get out of jail free’ cards when they pull something like that.

Mmm the thing here is that teenage groups are for teenage audience, and honestly, (no offense to anyone), most teenagers don’t appreciate good quality music, because they don’t find attractive a band like Radiohead for example, they are ugly, old and not the hot band nowadays. (And don’t get me wrong, I like One Direction but I understand the key on being successfull is because they are cute, not because of their music).

When teenagers grow up.. they’ll find the magic in legendary bands such as ACDC, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and many many other real musicians that don’t/didn’t give a sh*t about being handsome, because it’s all about making good music, not selling your face.

The problem with that theory, though, is that the great bands from the teenager’s decade will never get the attention they truly deserve. They’ll never get as much promotion, recognition, interviews, radio play, or a chance.
