Selena Gomez TALKS ACTING CAREER

selenagomezgetaway-3

Selena Gomez interview with 24 Hours Bulgaria. Her agenda is scheduled every minute: makeup, hair testing with her colleague Ethan Hawke, decorating new lines. Filming should begin at 11pm and continue until 6am. Despite the busy schedule, the young actress and singer found time to give the interview only to the Bulgarian media.

In her personal trailer that she and her family call her ‘Selenita’, and the presence of her mother Mandy, which accompanies every public appearance of her daughter. The girl who attracted throngs of fans elated Bulgarians in the windows of her hotel room in Grand Hotel Sofia seems like most of her fans with a pair of jeans, shirt, jacket and combat boots type. But the night temperature falling below Boyana about 6-7 degrees.

Despite her age and and frail, the young Miss Gomez has behind it a long, successful career acting and singing, four films for the small screen and large, three CDs, 16 songs on soundtracks, 22 awards and 17 nominations in various categories. And it definitely shows that the girl is very confident and have success at it.

24: Selena, could you get some sleep after hundreds of fans chanting your name for days, under the windows of your hotel room? Selena: Oh, they never bother me. But I was worried about the other hotel guests, the truth is that I was not prepared for this interest of Bulgarian fans on me. But I was a little worried about the children that ran between the cars to get to where I was. It is touching, and good to know that in Bulgaria, people know me and follow my work on TV.

24 hours: And the music. Many of the children were singing your songs at the hotel.
Selena: (Smiling) Yes, indeed. It was very good.

24 hours: It was great that you went to them and signed autographs.
Selena: Sure. That’s the least I can do for them. The problem is that the news came out and got increasingly more and more people (laughs). It was a little crazy.

24 hours: I have a list of fans who want you to do a show in Bulgaria? Probably thousands would love.
Selena: Really? Oh, with pleasure, but now I’m not on tour and I’m more focused on my acting career. Maybe later, I will think seriously.

24 hours: The film The Getaway is your first film for adults. Are you excited?
Selena: I’m very excited. Until now I was forced to shoot almost everything in the car. This is new for me. Ethan (Hawke) helps me a lot, he is working with a real party. I believe we have a great movie.

24 hours: The director, Courtney Solomon, does not skimp on praise you. He said you have a natural talent, and definitely have potential energy to become a true phenomenon of cinema.
Selena: I appreciate the words and I really hope I can do justice to all he said.

24 hours: In the film Monte Carlo, you played two characters simultaneously. Grace, the good girl, and Cordelia, the spoiled rich girl. Does Selena Gomez also has two sides? One that fans see and another when you’re alone?
Selena: Oh, no. I definitely do not have two personalities. I am what people see. I’m very simple. I love being with my family, friends. Nothing exciting.

24 hours: On Twiter you posted a picture of a restaurant in Sofia. Although your schedule is extremely tight, could you see something of Sofia?
Selena: I work at night and sleep and read the script during the day. I have no time for anything else. I hope that at the end of filming I can visit some of the monuments of Bulgaria. I have traveled to Sofia on the floor. And the studio views of the hills is incredibly fantastic.

24 hours: The script of The Getaway is fully developed in Bulgaria, as the father of your character was sent to work in our country. Is that correct?
Selena: It is true that my character lives in Bulgaria, but the script does not have details about their country. I, of course, before arriving here, I did my personal research on the Internet. Because I wanted to be better prepared.

24 hours: You have six dogs and they are all rescued from shelters. As you probably noticed, in Sofia, has a problem with stray dogs. Director Courtney Solomon wanted to adopt some, do you want to save an animal too?
Selena: For me and my mother is very sad to see abandoned dogs. Although, from what I’ve seen so far, they have a healthy appearance. (Looking at her mom) If she does not mind, I would like to adopt a dog from Bulgaria.

24 hours: Mandy, another dog?
Mandy: (Laughs) My husband takes care of six dogs, I think one more will not be a problem.

24 hours: Courtney (Director), what does it feel like to choose a star that is 19 years old, and to hear the screaming fans who love her all the time?
Courtney: I knew she would be popular in Bulgaria. What about her age, she grew much more than his age. She worked as an actress on TV and as a singer, and does it all since she was 9 years old. This is the definition of what is to be professional. Always ready, able to adjust to any changes in the script and the time in front of the camera and get into the skin of her character. She was born with talent. Moreover, it is very nice to talk to her, no frills and no poses. Many times I have to say about an actor is only for education but in the case of Selena, it’s true.

24 hours: Is she well developed in the transformation from a child star to a mature actress?
Courtney: Absolutely. This happened when she chose the role of Kid. Selena definitely has potential and I’m sure will go down in film history as one of the stars that many children never grow up.

24 hours: How is the chemistry of Selena on the set with an actor (Ethan Hawke) who is twice her age?
Courtney: Both have an amazing chemistry and dynamics, fighting, laughing, or angry. I’m kidding. In The Getaway, Ethan is much more than an actor. He was constantly involved in the script analysis. Even during the special recording we made in Ohio, where he attended a race of truth, he examined the life, habits and behaviors of drivers. And it definitely shows on screen. Usually I like to work with the Bulgarians. They are diligent, adaptable and try to do your best. This will continue to shoot in Bulgaria again.

    Selena Gomez is amazing.

I’ll never understand the hate. “People throw rocks at things that shine” is the best explanation, I guess.

  • Justinsuglyglasses

I don’t get the Selena hate. Yes, she’s not the most talented singer, dancer or actress out there but besides Bieber, nobody has played the fame game better than she has. Think about it, she managed to date both Nick Jonas and Justin Bieber at their height. Now she seems to have members of 1D interested in her. Although she is from Disney, she has taken a page out of Britney Spears and Christina A’s book and is not afraid to flaunt her body and show some skin. Despite this, she has still managed to preserve her “pure” image. She somehow always manages to be “caught” by the paps making out with Bieber and getting photos of those makeout pics published in tabloids around the world. She sings the very popular bubblegum pop that Miley and Demi probably turned down and does so happily. Not a single wrong move by Selena. Give her credit for that and forget her lack of talent. I don’t think talent really matters anymore. If it did, David Archuleta would be a superstar, not Justin Bieber. Just accept this reality (talent does not matter) and you will understand why there is no reason to hate Selena. If anything, you should criticize Miley, Demi and David for failing to play the fame game as well as Selena and Justin. Young people wanting to be popular should stop wasting their time on vocal, dancing and acting lessons and spend more time studying how to play the fame game. They’ll probably be a lot more successful. When you reach a certain level of successful, there’ll be enough sycophants out there to call you talented even if you don’t have a talented bone in your body.

@Justinsuglyglasses so at the end of the day Selena and Justin will never be respected as true artits and will be a trend that will disspear for lack of actual real talent?

That’s exactly why people don’t like her. She’s a representation of fakeness that is hollywood.

I’m not saying the fame game is right or fair. I’m saying it’s the reality. I used to get so annoyed at how Bieber seemed to get all the press and praise and performance opportunities over David Archuleta when David is so much more talented. But then I realized that it has nothing to do with talent and everything to do with the fame game. David was never going to play it so he would never have Bieber’s success. It’s really as simple as that. That’s when I became a Bieber fan. I still think his talent is average at best but he is truly the master of the fame game from the way he talks, the way he moves, the people he associates with. You have to respect that. I think he may actually be able to hold off the 1D charge, which I actually doubted for a while.

Yes Selena and Justin are not really artists, in my opinion, but they are very rich so I really doubt it bothers them that they are not “respected”. Anyways, I reject the assumption they are not respected. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve heard journalists call Justin talented. As I said, once you reach a certain level of fame, people will call you talented even if you are not. People will respect you because you can make them money.

So, stop the Selena hate. Embrace and accept her success in the same way I have embraced and accepted Bieber’s success. It’ll make your life a lot less stressful.

When did I say I hated Selena? I just stated an opinion and and explanation of why people don’t like. Their hate is REALLY for the media, but since the media doesn’t have a face and she does she’s going to get the brunt of it.

She’s a decent actress…it’s the popularity of her music that pisses me off. She’s not as musically talented as the man of your icon, ijs.

    Yes.

I do not know if this is true or not but I suspect that the role of “Justin Bieber’s girlfriend” was first offered to Miley before Selena. If Miley played the fame game, she would have accepted the role and continued to be Queen Bee. She turned it down and let Selena take over. Of course I could be totally wrong and Justin and Selena may have the greatest relationship of all time.

Well im not saying she doesnt have talent cause i do think she’s talented but i do think her talent didnt take her where she is right now.

Justin’s mom said in an interview that he had a big crush on miley before so i wouldnt be surprised if that is true but miley always treat him like a kid so..

Why is it always Miley fans that answer these? Miley is still around. You all pretend like Selena took something from her or her place. No, they are different and don’t even do the same music or type of movies, or anything for that matter. You just like to compare them when frankly they are nothing alike. So what if she wants or does not want to do music. You don’t have to listen to her if you don’t want to. Like I don’t like the certain people in the public eye. Do I actively look out for pictures, read articles of them or watch their shows/movies.

What with all the hate? I actually liked this Interview and the director was right when he said she was a professional. She has always carried herself nicely and people in the business do notice and respect that. About her singing, she’s not the best but there are people who have been helped and saved with her music and that’s something to be grateful for no matter who the artist is.

I don’t get why it even matters to you. Unless you have a job where your client listens to current Selena Gomez music and you must listen.

It’s kinda odd how huge popstars like Madonna and Britney can’t have as much facebook “likes” than this bitch. That’s so dumb. I don’t give a fuck about stans attacking me btw cuz this shit of “Bieber Fever” and his pimp Selena it’s annoying af now.

Every album, every nomination, every award, every charted song she brings out could go to someone who actually deserves it. Selena and her imaginary band are everything thats wrong with todays music. I understand the use of auto tune when the artist has a good voice already. But I dont understand why people who obviously cant sing get a break in the industry. If you cant sing, then leave the job to people who bloody can.

  • Anonymous

I’m glad it’s not about you, that’s refreshing. :) I do get the feeling though that if it isn’t Selena, it would be someone else with a singing style either equivalent, or slightly worse/better. :/

It’s just what people like to listen to today and if the music sounds good and it’s catchy to their ear, they will listen to it, talent aside.
