Gabby Douglas ‘Hair Critics Disrespectful’

gabbydouglashair

Gabby Douglas has fired back at hair critics who said that she should have competed with her natural hair: ‘They have no idea what they’re talking about. You sweat and all the gel and hairspray comes out. Even if we did fix our hair, our coach would be like, ‘This is not a beauty pageant! Leave it alone.

There’s no bathroom. We rotate from event to event so there’s no time for them to say ‘Representing the USA, Gabrielle Douglas’ and me to say ‘Yeah, thanks!’ as I’m brushing my hair. It’s like, come on. It’s so disrespectful! I’m not thinking about that. I’m thinking about bringing a gold medal home. I use great Pantene products in my hair. They make my hair silky, shiny and healthy.’ Good for her!

Its funny cause the people critizing her are her own race. If another person who wasnt black said this, it would be racist. Some African American people hate to see each other do well, so they have to come at something as stupid as her hair but yet their probably jobless and losing! Keep your head up gabby. Those gold medals looks heavy lol

why thee F-CK is anyone even talking about this? really. WHY?

    i’ll tell you why lol.

because the media JUMPS at any opportunity to make black women look bad. absolutely NO ONE on my timeline mentioned gabby’s damn hair. EVERYONE of us “catty black people” congratulated her and were very proud of her accomplishment.

but all of a sudden, it’s a huge news story that “black people made fun of gabby’s hair”? it’s not like this was a celebrity critizising another celeb vis a PUBLIC STATEMENT (like oh idk, justin bieber just did prince william….) we are talking about SELECT RANDOM ASS TWEETS ONLINE.

see how THIRSTY the media was to spotlight something that would have gone entirely under the radar? they WANTED to take away from gabby’s gold metal. they WANTED to instead focus on the negative. did you recall one million news stories attacking justin for publically humiliating the prince? but all of a sudden, you have a two-for-one on the anti-black agenda. you get a story pointing out how “bad” this girls hair is (it isn’t whatsoever), and how black folk are just no good, hating crabs-in-a-barrel.

RIDICULOUS. and what the fuck at oceanup for even posting this bullshit.

    something to think about.

oh, and i see you, gabby, getting that pantene money lol

    werk.

I don’t understand what’s the hell ?? she just won and they’re saying shits already ?? and she can wear her hair whatever she likes , this is really crazy live the girl alone !

  • Anonymous

those critics are so rude! she can wear her hair the way she feels is most comfortable

  • Anonymous

Why does the media keep bringing this up….you’re dragging it longer than it should be

  • Anonymous

    you tell em girl!
the fact that people even mentioned her hair is ridiculous. let her style her hair the way she wants. like she said it’s not a beauty pageant.

  • Anonymous

Haha nice product placement, dropping the “I use great Pantene products” in there. I think she probably wouldn’t have responded at all, but Pantene came up to her or something and she got cash out of the whole deal. That’s how you turn hate into profit :)

Im african american and i personally thought NOTHING was wrong with her hair. some people need a reality check. This whole thing is so silly she won 2 gold medals and all some people can say is “she should have gotten her hair done”. so stupid.

  • Anonymous

Her own race? She’s part of our country, she’s an American. And anyone from our giant melting pot who complains about her hair shouldn’t be allowed to watch the Olympics cause they don’t know what it’s all about. It’s her personal decision and I’m proud of her medals and her hair.

  • Annabelle

are we srsly still talking about this. Congrats Gaby on everything you’ve accomplished and I’m so proud of you!

Lmao. Gabby, don’t worry about critics. Do your thing. You’ve worked hard for it and have perfected your craft. When people see another person progressing, they try and say negative things to bring them down. You’re obviously perf at what you do so since they can’t find any fault in that, they stoop so low as tall about your hair.. Like how the fuck is that even relevant. It’s absurd and not even a real issue. Dot let anyone break you girl. Laugh your ass all the way to the bank. ;D

  • Gearsarealwaysturning

    I cant believe how stupid people are…commenting on her hair? seriously? the girl is bringing medals home and people stop to say shit about her hair? oh god. this world D;

  • Anonymous

What is this world coming to?
I really quastion humanity when ever i read somthing like this. Things like this are so sad.
We should be proud of her and happy that she won. Who cares abour hair?

  • Miley_Jonas

The people that said anything about her hair in the first place are so ignorant, that if I were Gabby, I’d be legit laughing.

This whole thing reminds mem of what I’ve been saying for a long time. People should focus on a person talent, not thier personal live or how they dress, their makeup or how they fix their hair. I wish that Athletes, Singers, actors, and entertainers in general, could find a way to become invisible to everyone, especially the paps, except when they are performing, doing a permeir, doing publicity appearances, or doing charity. and even then the only thing that people could take notice of is their performance or the task at hand, like the charity work. We would only see an athlete routine or performace of thier sport, an actor character performance, only hear a singer sing, etc.. instead of how ugly someone is, how they are dressed, where they shop, who they are dating etc..

This makes the people on oceanup look like geniuses. wtf???? HER HAIR???????????????? I myself see hundreds of black girls decide to wear their hair like that? wtf dumbest thing ever?
