A man, who was charged after police said he fought with them and vowed to save Selena Gomez, waived his right to a preliminary hearing Thursday, reports Times Online. James Leroy Basinger Jr., 22, of 1249 Blaine Road was charged March 11 by Brighton Township police with aggravated assault, disarming a law enforcement officer, institutional vandalism, making terroristic threats, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
A township police report said Basinger was in the waiting room and triage area of the emergency room at Heritage Valley Beaver hospital when he went to security personnel and told them he had a vision from God, his girlfriend didn’t love him and he wanted to kill himself. He then ran into the waiting area and shouted his girlfriend’s name and obscenities, the report said.
Basinger became violent with the security personnel and police, and tried to grab an officer’s gun, the report said. Basinger then said everyone in the building would die, said he would kill the officers and, ‘I’m God, and I’m going to save Selena Gomez.’ Basinger was released on a $1 bond, but online records show he is considered on ‘unsupervised custody’ for medical leave from jail.
