Gwen Stefani told Ryan Seacrest on Miley’s new record: ‘She was so cool. I love Miley. She looked hot [at iHeartRadio] too. I asked her about her record. I said ‘Are you making a ridiculously good record?’ because she better be! She said she loves it. So I’m excited to hear what she does.’
On Flavor Flav confusing her with Miley: ‘Flavor Flav grabs me [at iHeartRadio] and is like ‘Oh my gosh I’m so embarrassed, I completely thought you were somebody else! No body told me! But its cool, its cool, its cool.’ Then he took a picture with me and tapped me on the shoulder and said, ‘Is that really you? Did you really take a picture with me?’’
Miley also revealed the inspiration for her album: ‘[Hemsworth] was filming a movie in New Orleans, so I got into the older Motown Sound vibe, which is really fun to mix with this country pop sound. I listened to a lot of Irma Thomas and tried to get that old soul into it, too.
When you’re making a record you never think of what weird direction you’re going to go, but that was something that popped up in a few of the sessions we’ve been working on, and it’s been really fun.’
