Simon Cowell is out to sabotage X Factor favorites Union J and stop them becoming more popular than One Direction, reports Daily Star. Louis Walsh has said that Cowell has deliberately gone cold on Union J to fix the show. Louis ‘He knows Union J are a threat to One Direction so he’s not going to say much about them.’
Walsh, Union J’s mentor, suspects that Cowell is out to wreck their chances by promoting other acts to win the show. But, Simon insistersthere was room in the charts for both 1D and the Union J lads, George Shelley, 19, JJ Hamblett, 24, Jaymi Hensley, 22, and Josh Cuthbert, 20.
Walsh, who also mentors the boyband District 3 in this year’s show, said: ‘There’s always room for a new boyband if they are good enough and they work hard. I think we have got two great boybands. It’s not just Union J, District 3 have come back into the race too.’
The prize for winning the ITV1 show is a £1million record contract with his label, Syco Music. But Cowell will not want a rival band competing for One Direction’s fan base and denting their earning potential.
