Selena Gomez Wants Gun Violence End

So it takes more than gun control… that is true, but that doesn’t mean common sense laws about mass destruction weapons shouldn’t happen. Seriously, we can do both, reasonable common ground laws, and psychiatric help… and get rid of the drugs tied to most mass shootings.. there is alot of evidence about them. They cause suicidal and homicidal issues. CHANGE IS NOW… sincerly someone from CT. Gun enthusiasts are selfish at the moment, stepping up acting like victims. GMAFB

Wait, selena is part of this? Hmm didn’t she post pictures of herself at a gun range and talked about how she loved it? . and doesn’t she have some garbage movie called “spring breakers” where she and other disney girls use guns as a means to steal and rob? and what about her other movie with mr.hawke lots of guns in that movie too. Got to laugh at hollywood hypocrites they only speak up when it suits theirs needs.

Obviously no one wants gun violence..neither do republicans. Republicans are very strong believers in the second amendment…and so are MANY Democrats. The second amendment is there to give American’s the right to bear arms incase their government becomes totalitarian..it give Americans the opportunity to overthrow a totalitarian government. Remember that the constitution was written right after they overthrew their government.
Also…what do people mean by gun control? Obviously there needs to be restrictions on who can purchase a gun. I believe background checks and appropriate and also mental health checks. To the person who said that people should not be able to collect guns…who are you to say what is acceptable for a hobby? Who is the government to say what a law abiding individual can collect or not collect? If you ask me that is giving the government WAY too much power…The guns that were used in the CT shooting were obtained legally and by a law abiding citizen…she should have been more careful with them knowing her sons mental condition but she did not…there is nothing we can change about that. Even if we made guns illegal..people who wish to cause harm will find a way to obtain guns illegally..since making the illegal will create a black market.

Now let me ask you…if you wish to obtain heroine, cocaine, meth and any other type of ILLEGAL drug there is..can you find a way to get it? Yes you can…same thing will happen if you make guns illegal. The only difference is that if we were to make guns illegal it would make it harder for the law abiding citizen to obtain them..and be able to protect themselves in their homes..

We need to start funding mental health facilities and make it easier to families to help their children with mental health problems…but why won’t America do that? Oh yeah..it’s too expensive.

I get this but why does a common citizen (one who’s never been in the military and never will be in the military) need an assault rifle or any other machine gun (a gun that is for military purposes) in order to feel protected? So many people are dying and just because gun violence “isn’t going to stop” doesn’t mean that this is something just glance over. This is serious stuff. Little kids are starting to become the targets for people going crazy. You need serious help if you honestly believe that we should just let people keep their military weapons. You don’t need a gun that shoots out 80 bullets a second just to protect yourself. That’s ridiculous and the fact that this is a serious discussion makes me question the sanity of American citizens.

THANK YOUUUUUUU. you can put all the gun restrictions on law that you want, GUNS WILL STILL BE OBTAINED BY THOSE DESPERATE ENOUGH FOR THEM.

the person BEHIND the gun is what deserves all this energy. get kids easy access to mental help.

to the person claiming that common citizens shouldn’t need assault rifles….. why should the government be the only ones in possession of the most dangerous weapons? ask yourself that. and if you answer “because their job is to protect us”, then you should think twice.

I don’t think there is a point in banning assault weapons because look at columbine which happened when the assault weapon ban was still intact…also as I stated before the second amendment was created to give Americans the right to overthrow a totalitarian government…which you would need automatic weapons now…I dont think that kind of government will happen here in my years but no one knows what the future holds..all a totalitarian government needs is a desperate populace. Also even if we were to ban them and make them illegal do you really think people who want to cause harm to others woudnt find a way to obtain an assault weapon illegally? My point is do not make it impossible for the law abiding citizen to acquire the type of gun they wish to have…if law abiding citizens want to collect guns/assault weapons why stop them if they have no harm in mind. there probably will be a ban on assault weapons again and if that stops mass shootings I will be all for it..however I believe that mental health is what we should be focusing on.

And I never said we should glance over it. I believe that there should be a background and mental health check for every individual who wishes to buy a gun…hopefully the government can stop illegal guns from being sold..but I don’t have the highest confidence in them considering I can go out and buy meth if I pleased.

Both sides have arguements..I just don’t believe in restricting the rights of law abiding citizens who would cause no harm.

Honestly, there is more than one problem that needs to be fixed. I think everyone realizes that ONLY banning assault weapons, etc. isn’t going to solve the problem 100%. I think that’s the whole entire point of this PSA, it’s not ONLY asking for a ban on assault weapons, it’s asking for the government to come up with an overall plan that helps stop incidents like what happened in Newtown.

At the end of the day, doing something will always be more effective than doing NOTHING. That’s my point. There are too many people who don’t believe in doing something, and that’s exactly why nothing has been done.

I would also love it if there was a way to ensure that people who are suspected to be mentally unstable could get help sooner, and for free tbh. And I honestly, CANNOT for the life of me think of anything good that can come out of owning more than one assault weapon if you are not serving this country, or a reason as to why that would be necessary.

I also have NEVER heard of a story where an innocent civilian was able to stop a shooter with the assault weapon that they happened to have on hand. Yes, people will find ways to get guns still, but it’s currently WAY TOO EASY. The harder you make it for people to get assault weapons, the less people that will have them.

I don’t think anyone has an answer that solves every problem right now. But sometimes solving a problem happens one step at a time. I think the first step is to start putting laws into place that seriously regulates the use of guns. JMO.

We need everyone to carry a gun! That way if a bad guy with the gun starts going crazy the good guy with stun can shoot him down. Imagine how many lives would’ve been saved if someone in the school had a gun to take down the gun man or at the movie theatre.

Gun shootings – Get rid of the guns and mental people.

Drunk driving – Get rid of the cars and liquor (motherfuckas better get use to walking).

Fires – Get rid of all things that can make anything catch fire.

unnecessary racist people – Get rid of hate..
Actually this one isn’t a bad idea.

We can’t win, it’s either or in this world.

At Columbine, there were 2 armed campus officers on scene when the shooting happend. 12 people were still killed hundreds injured severely. If you honestly believe giving people more guns is the answer, I suggest you seek out one of these two armed officers and speak them.

The assault weapons ban wasn’t on until 2004. The columbine shooting was in 1999, its because of that shooting that ever was an assault weapons ban, which btw will most likely become effective again after this shooting. There really is no need for any citizen to own an assault rifle or any weapon with a clip of more than 30 bullets, there really isn’t. Yes psychos will still find ways of aquiring these guns, but it will be much more difficult and there will be a paper/online trail. What people need to understand is the United States will never ban guns entirely, ever, its not gonna happen and the people that are lobbying for that are part of a lost cause. But the ones creating more restrictions on who can own a gun based on their legal/medical/mental history, and creating bans on certain types of guns, will most likel get their way. The rights of law abiding citizens that are gun owners, arent being taken away, just making it a little more difficult, which I appauld even as an NRA member…well i guess now ex member, my family resigned our membership after their stupid announcement today. Anyways I totally agree with you however that we need to focus on mental healthcare just as hard as we are ocusing on gun control.

Okay everyone. If you actually care go to http://www.demandaplan.org (like it says in the video) submit your info, and they will send a letter on your behalf to the people who need to hear YOUR voice DEMANDING we make a change on gun control laws.

I just did it, it only took me 30 seconds…

The point in using celebrities is that, in theory, it would cause this video to get more views. And if, in a perfect world everyone gave a damn, watched the video, and went to http://www.demandaplan.org like it says, there would be millions of letters written to the government demanding a plan for gun control… and that is how a few celebs can make a huge difference.

Or you can sit here and analyze everyone’s motives, and do nothing. And next time a mass shooting occurs, you’ll have the opportunity to do absolutely nothing again when others, at least, TRY.

    I love this.

And I know republicans are so anti-gun control. But there has to be a point when we can join together and at least get as much control as possible. If it’s really just about hunting, then why can’t we just have facilities for those purposes alone, where guns can be checked out & checked in after use? People shouldn’t be able to collect guns, I’m sorry but this pointless HOBBY of a few is NOT worth losing the lives of as many people we do a year to gun violence.

It just is NOT. I really hope we make strides when it comes to gun control laws ASAP. At some point the NRA is just going to have to deal.

They’re not idiots for using their voice to help TRY and make a change. If anyone is an idiot here, I’d have to question you and the motivation behind that thought (unless your anti gun-control, it doesn’t make sense)?

We SHOULD do something. There’s no stupidity in someone admitting that.

Sure, but just because you’re a celebrity doesn’t mean that raising awareness is enough, or that they can’t be the ones to actually take action. They are as much a part of the whole ‘WE’ as we ourselves are.

This is powerful and it’s not about the people in the video it’s about those poor young victims that lost there life after gun violence and yes even if there was a law some people would break it but at least there trying to do some thing and to the parents of the sandy hook victims it must mean a lot

You know i understand their celebs people are going to her them out more but what i feel would make an even bigger difference is if a group of people did it just regular people because yes and i mean what i say a moms a mom and a dads a dad no matter who they are but even though they say they are regular people the still don’t have the full affect on people like if a town of people or a group of just regular people did something like this. Why don’t you try that first before rounding up a group of celebs.

    ______________

    Your argument is invalid considering the fact that your first sentence full of “facts” is wrong. The ban started in 1994 because of the waco incident which you probably know nothing about..and the ban ended in 2004. Please do your research before you make a stupid comment…and look even during the ban of assault weapons there was still a mass shooting. I see no point in banning these guns and making it impossible for law abiding citizens to obtain them. The second amendment was made so we can bear arms and overthrow our government if it becomes too powerful or corrupt, similar to how we are becoming under Obama..but that is another topic that I could go on and on about. I love politics (;

Also to the person who said no civilian has ever stopped a gun man you are so completely wrong it is a bit funny. Vic Stacy is just one example..he stopped a gunman in the summer. So your point is invalid also.

Please take the time to look at Switzerland’s gun laws..they had less than 5 gun related deaths last year and they require every male above 18 to serve 2 years in the military and they also require every male to carry a gun….hmmmm interesting. There is clearly something very wrong with the culture of America I blame the disappearance of virtue and morality in our society.

I am done.. I had another comment but it was too long and ended up disappearing and I am not about to argue over oceanup.
