i liked the shaved sides haircut, when they were done properly tho. Most of the time the fade was badly done. I love Joe with long hair too and the shorter hair without shaved sides and all his other haircuts. He just has a perfect profile!

The way the Idol auditions work is, you audition for the producers first. Those auditions have already taken place so it's too late to audition that way now. After you audition for the producers, they choose people to come back and audition for the executive producers. Then the executive producers choose about 100 or so people to come back and audition in front of the judges.
The auditions lasts a long time, there are usually several months between the time a person first auditions and when they would go in front of the judges, assuming they make the cut.
This season you can also submit a audition online, and I think that process is still going on. They will also have an audition bus going to smaller cities in the middle of nowhere so people that might not have access to the cities where the regular auditions are held have a chance to audition. But both of those auditions are subject to the same process as the in person auditions--regular producers look at your audition first, then executive producers, and if the executive producers choose you then they'll tell you where to go to audition before the judges.
So if you are just now deciding you want to audition to meet Nick, in most cases it's too late as the in person audition process is already over, except for the people who were selected to meet the executive producers. You'll have to take your chances with the online audition or the bus audition.
