Celebreties invest in real estate because they can't put that kind of money in a savings account because they are only FDIC insured for 250k for single people, which means she'd have to have 100 savings accounts to keep her 2.5 mil insured. So real estate is a much better investment to store oodles of dollars.
What's interesting is this house looks so similar in taste to Taylor Swift's LA home.

I'm actually a fan of both, and that first comment bashing Miley was just ignorant, especially because one, Miley does invest in real-estate (The Florida Home) and is actually a very frugal spender (plus she has over 100 million more than Selena, lbr) and Selena is actually moving into this house, so there's definitely no proof that she even thought of this as an investment.
