With the rise of 1D and considering how old they've gotten, they're never going to be popular as they were in 2008/2009. If they reinvent their sound and appeal to an older audience, they might be able to still sell decently. I think the only way to get back on the charts is to take their time and create an amazing album that's worth listening to. Rushing to get it done isn't going to help the cause. It's sad too, because they have had some amazing songs.

No, but I'd say Disney did a pretty good job of that. As for the comment abt them being about music, that sure explains why they sold out and took up acting, right? Camp Rock and especially JONAS were a JOKE. No serious musicians would have done that. It was a quick boost to fame and millions, but in the end it came back to bite them. Joe is amazing? Have you heard the cover of Thinking of You by Katy Perry that they did? It's horrific, mostly because of Joe. Louis had a rough time on his xfactor audition due to nerves, I will give you that, but he has improved drastically as you will notice in recent live performances. I watched videos of Joe's live stuff from his album and he struggles to reach notes. But I will say that Nick is very talented and his voice is versatile.
And the lyrics? Have you listened to Don't Charge Me for the Crime or Poison Ivy? I'll admit their first album was good, ALBL was decent, but LVATT was lyrically poor. One Direction only has one album out, but songs like More Than This and Moments are amazing. Along with others such as Tell Me & Same Mistakes.

1d is just starting, so yes they will still be very relevant in 2 years, and justin bieber's peak lasted more than jonases. jonas peaked in 2008 and in 2009 when they came out with their movie it flopped! justin biebers year was 2010 and in 2011 when he came out with his movie it did a lot better than jonas movie.
some guys in 1d (like harry or liam) have way better voices than jonas imo.

What killed the Jonas' career was their love lives. Starting with Miley Cyrus and Selena, then Taylor and then Demi. Thats the truth people can deny all they want.
I totally agree that their love lives overshadowed their music. Nick hasn't been single for more than a week since he was 13. You can see he always needs to replace whatever female he breaks up with almost immediately. Miley-Selena-Miley-Courtney-Selena-Nicole-Samantha-Delta. Not saying you shouldn't date, but when you use it for publicity and 95 percent of your fans are female, it's a career killer. It makes no matter that you're talented. Lots of talented people out there. I don't think this music will happen. Cause the 3 of them keep saying different things.
I'll believe it when I hear it and it better give me an ear orgasm. They need to change keep mature the sound that they had on 'Lines' to appeal not only to JB fans but adults also.

They were not "forced". They wanted the money. I respect them wayyy more as musicians than Bieber but you can not deny that they were manufacturated as heck...and it's stupid to say "their love lives" killed the band, anon. They just wanted to go solo - and it was a lil' selfish but that's what they wanted and with Bieber around they become teeny booper dust. I can't talk about 1D cuz idk what their music it's about but it seems to have the potential to stop and be the cure for the Bieber Fever...

I never thought of the coincidence that it all changed when Nick turned 18. Maybe he's just a loner and they've grown in different directions. It's kind of sad cause they were so close at one time. Well, if they make good music in the future, I will buy it.
Exactly! They were not forced. They made the decision to be a part of a silly show for the sole purpose that it would make them a lot of money! And they expect to be taken seriously in the music industry as a band after that? It just can't happen. They've lost their credibility.
I don't know why Nick would even want to make another album as a band. He should just continue to do Broadway. He is gaining respect in the industry and I'm sure there will continue to be more roles for him in the future.

Why is anyone comparing a future Jonas iteration to 1D? They both have their place. Jonas was never a boy band--you have to have choreography and a stylized edge for that. Jonas was sadly pushed as teenie bop pop but they aren't Disney anymore. "Fans don't wait around forever." Really? You mean people who jump on whatever is being pushed their way don't wait around forever. I've been a fan since I first saw Jonas in NJ in 2004. They aren't all I listen to but there will always be me buying their CD on release date. You clearly were never a true fan--just a train jumper. I loved Jonas LA. It was like an Entourage for teenagers. Disney gave up on it way too early. I'm actually hoping that the big announcement they have been hinting about is a Jonas LA movie!

Fans will not stick around? Fake ones won't. True and loyal fans will. Not only am I a proud Jonas Brothers fan since 2007 and even though they've broken up an *Nsync fan since 1998. So people who say fans won't stay around for long don't know how to be loyal fans and just move on to the next big thing. When another group makes it big in the states 50%+ of 1D fans will go on to the next big thing.
As for Bieber singing in the white house. The Jonas Brothers have performed for the president and his family too. Plus, they've performed with Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney. Has Bieer done that? I don't think so. Pretty much, whatever Bieber has done or will do, the Jonases did it first. Just like the Grammy nomination. The Jonas Brothers were nominated first.
