The reason for this is that Selena hasnt gone through hard times like Demi has. With the loss of her(Selena) unborn sister, she can, or ask someone to write a song about the lost of a loved one or how she was dreaming about an amazing future with someone(not just someone, I know) she will never get the chance to meet. Demi can write more about her downfalls once she begins to go through them...again.

I guess it is true that hard times makes it easier to produce better music.
hopefully she can improve but no matter what the reason for her not being a good artist she doesn't deserve an award yet (I'm sure she'll win anyway tho because it's a popularity contest)

I haven't watched the KCAs in a couple of years now, but I still watch the TCAs. even if they're both not serious, the TCAs are at least fun.

as for someone saying Selena can write now that she's gone through hard times (losing her baby sister): first of all, she didn't lose her, her mom did. the mother suffers much more than any other family member; second, did she not have bad times, growing up poor and being the child of a teen mom? I think that couldn't have been the best time; third, hard times don't give you song-writing abilities.
