Yeah, they've changed it from the book. In the book, A is *spoiler alert* Mona, but it's gonna be different in the show.

I always thought A Was Ali. She's the only one who knows everything about them. And her body went missing somewhere in season one so it was obvious that she was still alive. But it's confusing because someone told me that A is Jenna and Garret in the books. But they (the girls) have already told viewers that the A in the show is not the same A in the books. And that would make sense to change A because there would be no point of watching the show because Ali's Killer has already been solved and A's Identity would have been revealed . So there wouldn't be any more mysteries left in the show.
