Debby Ryan 'Bullies Said I Was Fat, Nerdy'
Debby Ryan on being touted the next Miley Cyrus or Selena Gomez: 'It’s funny but it’s definitely a progression. And I really want to have a long career. No one is ever gonna be the next Miley or the next Selena. I would love to be the next anyone. I love having a creative say in all my projects.
I’d love to be the next Tina Fey or someone like that, people [who] are able to be funny, on top of just being pretty onscreen. I had no idea I could make so many expressions with my face and they’re totally unattractive! And I’m totally okay with it. I can growl or even have cake on my face.
That’s what I love about my job: & I can be silly and make people laugh! I was home-schooled, accelerated in classes and I was the kid who would stay behind writing papers and grading tests for the teacher. The only reason other people talked to me would be to ask, ‘Hey, how did I do in my test?’ And I’d be like,
‘Yeah you got a B. You missed some tough questions; I’ll tutor you if you want.’ I was made fun of for being academically accelerated, being in the chess club, being home-schooled, living in Germany. I was German kid when I got back to America and they were like telling me that I was fat, nerdy and that I didn’t belong there.. It was really hard to ignore those bullies. On my first week,
I would get shoved and pushed, all my books on the floor while I was in the hall way at school.. When I started pretending I had a secret and acting like I owned the place, that was when I realized they don’t have any power over me. People will call you everything and with Hollywood, all these things are magnified. It’s important to being able to stand up for yourself.'

honestly...it sounds like a lot of b.s to me.

I don't know. I kind of think these girls need to grow a thicker skin (well, it seems like demi legit had it bad
..)
But honestly, a lot of kids have it rough in school. I could argue that I'VE been bullied...and I'm sure pretty much anyone can. Stop elaborating girls, jeez.

Maybe hear that their idols speak about it give them courage to speak out and stop the problem

yeah, i kind of agree with you. Like I see what they may be trying to do....
but a lot of the times, in my opinion, it seems more like a self pity party rather than trying to help younger fans.
I like debby too, she seems sweet....
but I just REALLY doubt that all of these disney stars have been traumatized by bullying. :\ meh lol

I don't think Selena was bullied. She said not really when asked if she was bullied. Miley was bullied badly. She was locked in the bathroom.

but i dont think I've been bullied badly at all.
It's normal stuff that happens to kids.

You were bully but not badly. people reacts different to situations i feel like i've been personally bullied but ithink other people don't mind about it cuz they think take somebody's agressions is "normal" or what "kids do". These kids need to stop beign so mean at young age.
