They have had breakup rumors before. This is exactly the same thing as the rumors before. Just like Brad and Angelina, who have breakup rumors every single day but they are together, always.
You are right. IF (big if) they broken up, they do need to discuss with their teams the right way to do it. Neither will last forever, but they do have the potential to last for maybe 25 years with some form of fame, whether A list or C list and the right treatment of their images will secure that.

The break up rumours are just that, rumours, Selena has dated the IT guy before (Nick and Taylor L) and she has dumped them and she has said several times Nick hurt her, even when Nick J was as famous as Justin, they clearly love each other despite what the rest of the world thinks or says and people should leave them alone, especially Justin's fans who claim to love him yet they hate on his gf who he clearly is in love with on a daily basis.
And by the way, if they were broken up, she wouldn't be there alone with Justin and his team in different countries all over the world so far away from her family, so they clearly are still together and happy.
