If you're totally nice and down-to-earth, you're labeled that because you're consistently just that. Usually, if you're nice one day, and a "complete douchebag" the next, its an attitude problem. I work in customer service and I have had all sorts of impatient customers as well as douchebagey ones, but still I can remain patient and considerate. If you think about it, Justin works in customer service as well. But the difference between my job and his, is that he is the product and the seller, and his fans are his customers. I do think it depends on what experiences have been had, and whether they were unprovoked to crucify him as a "douchebag". I feel like he was being douchey in this situation, using the old "a-fan-wouldnt-really-do-this" excuse, and it was unprovoked. If he's patient and welcoming at one fan meeting, but rude and impatient at another, it has got to be frustrating for the fans. I'm sure they relied on their reservations of his nicety, assuming that he would be all welcoming.
The truth is, his FANS are the reason he is where he is, he has to start treating them GOOD! not just when he wants them to buy something, but all the time. Yeah he's 18, and sure he wants privacy, but he's gonna have to get over that, because he's famous!
