well i've been there on vacation to hollywood and yes its normal people mostly, i met a few photographers but everyone else i met just worked normal jobs

That's why Disney had a soap opera vision to the suckey second season. The first one was not really bad. At least the show gave them notoriety and they sold several records thanks to that.

If it's either a documentary, or mini-documentary series, they could do it without receiving any backlash. It would only be a slight, almost one-time look into their lives, which could be G for TV and not make people feel like they were jipped if they discover 1D from the documentary and then realize what they're really like. As you said, anything more would be career/credit suicide.

One Direction is a boy band. Boy bands instructions are pretty much this: 1) look pretty; 2) sell yourselves to the obsessive females. The guys wouldn't be able to move as easily or get as close to the girls if they had their guitars blocking them. However, two nights before at Radio City, they had their instruments there, as they were not getting near the audience regardless. Does the fact that they didn't use their instruments at the one performance you saw really matter that much? They can play them, and they do, but they don't have to at every show.

It was all Rugrats, Hey Arnold, Catdog, remember? Only recently did it become more live action-themed, and I think they're really trying with iCarly and such. I think people just already have it in their minds to gravitate towards Disney, which is why it comes out on top more often.
