Jonas Brothers Leave Hollywood Records

Jonas Brothers Leave Hollywood RecordsJonas Brothers Leave Hollywood Records

Fans are shocked, the Jonas Brothers have parted ways with Disney owned Hollywood Records after releasing three albums, selling 17 million worldwide, reports THR. Nick Jonas: 'This was a decision that we made as a group/ Naturally, as with any partnership, when you do part ways,

..there is emotion tied to it. We've been blessed to have a lot of success with Hollywood and with Disney, but speaking on behalf of my brothers and our team, we're all looking forward to this next chapter. We're ready for that next step as a group, and being able to take our work with us was so important.'

'Hollywood Records and Jonas Brothers have amicably ended an amazingly successful partnership after six years. ..We couldn’t have asked for better partners or nicer people to work with. We wish Nick, Kevin and Joe all the best in their future endeavors'

To reclaim their catalog would typically be a percentage based on past sales and estimated future earnings. Manager Johnny Wright tell it: 'We could stay, or we could go. This will allow them to chart their own destiny. The industry and distribution channels are changing so rapidly,

..we don’t even know what it means anymore to put out a record. The industry and distribution channels are changing so rapidly, we don’t even know what it means anymore to put out a record. If we wanted to take another deal with a major, it would be a different than what we entered into when we signed with Hollywood. We don't have to become just an artist to the label, we could be a partner or do it ourselves and then come back later on. There’s no plan here, the plan is whatever we decide to make it.'

Wright readily admits Jonas Brothers had outgrown Disney, something that became evident as they contemplated their exit: 'In having a conversation about moving forward, we knew we weren’t going to do a Jonas show on Disney Channel and the likelihood of us doing movie in that vein was not there, so the big platforms were not really accessible to us anymore.. We don't have to have a record out under any time constraints, so they’re free to just create and explore and do it at their own pace. And they're enjoying it.'

Nick: 'In these past three years, my brothers and I have not released a record, but we've really come into our own as men. And we've also lived life, which is an important part to making a record. ..I've got a studio set up in my apartment in New York where we can all put down our ideas. It's a really liberating feeling to just be able to create and write whatever is on our hearts.'

Expect a new Jonas Brothers album by the end of 2012 or early 2013. On turning from 'boys to men, to use that cliché,' Johnny said that this is a band that hasn’t yet peaked worldwide. And with all that they do both as a group and individually, their side projects include the E! reality show Married to Jonas starring Kevin Jonas and new wife Danielle Deleasa (a co-production of Jonas Enterprises and Ryan Seacrest Productions), Nick’s roles in the Broadway revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and NBC’s Smash, a new feature film for Joe and plans to sign acts to launch their own production or publishing company there’s no telling where the Jonas train will lead them. But one thing is for sure: They’re driving it.

b) identify new material with brackets.
c) use brackets with sic to indicate errors in the original.
d) all of these are correct

YES!!! It was very apparent that this was going to happen after Joe's solo album came out. They grown past Disney and they have a big enough platform and fan base that if they want to produce more music they will have no problem. Disney was great for them and they were one of the first "mega stars" that they created but it was time to move on.

100% yes! They should really study like Micheal Jackson and how his lyrics transitioned from boy to man with his lyrics and music style. You can hot and steamy without being vulgar and dirty and now they can get a little mor physical now that they are older. Which they need now that the fans are older. Because one thing that I liked so much about JB is that I'm about the same age as Nick and it seems that the music that they released always paralled my life, and there was always a JB somg for every situation making it seem that grew up with them in a strange way and they need to keep that going.

I agree that the rings definitely had repercussions but it's not like they advertised them. They only mentioned them when they were asked and didn't get into too many details. It's not like they went around screaming, "check it out! we have rings that mean we can't have sex".

Fans aren't shocked, they're excited. Thank God the Jonas Brothers left this preteen label. They haven't received good promotion for the last couple years. It was smart to purchase the rights to all their music, they wrote it, so I love that it's in their control now.

Finally they can work without the restrictions of the Disney machine. I thought Miley left too...the only significant names left with the label now are Demi and Selena.

They have already written some pretty inspirational songs. Now that they're older it will be great to see what direction their songwriting takes. Nick already gave us a glimpse at two unreleased songs, both are far more mature and if they move in that direction they will be a success.

I think Nick put it best, it's not that they have abandoned those ideals just that there was too much focus on the ring itself. It was a promise they made to God. I respected that decision but I don't hold them nailed to a cross for it. What I thought at 13 is not what I think now because I have grown older. The Jonas Brothers are 19, 22, and 25 now. It's about the music not a stupid ring they wear on their finger. No other band out there is held to the scrutiny that the Jonas Brothes are. They aren't priests!

They aren't stupid, they're smart. Hollywood Records mainly is a promotional too for Disney Channel. Look at the artists they represent. The Jonas Brothers sold over 17 million albums and they will continue to sell albums with a new label. They haven't said that they weren't looking for a new home. They made a strategic business decision to move in a new direction. It's time for a label (either a new label or their own) where they can have more creative control over what they write and who they work with.

Nothing that the Jonas Brothers ever sang was mature. They have to create a whole new sound. I', actually quite excited to see how it turns out Smile

------------
Songs like the Black Keys, Turn Right, Take a Breath, Don't Speak, etc. are all far from teeny.
------------
Burning Up, SOS, When You Look Me In The Eyes, Paranoid, Hold On...all TOP 40 hits. And their more mature sound can be found on LVATT like Black Keys, Don't Speak, Turn Right. Nick's solo album had a few great songs too...Vesper's Goodbye, Olive and Arrow, Last Time Around. And Nick debuted a couple new songs on his last tour in South America, one of them was Collide and that was sick! So Good!

wow this is weird, been a fan since forver and now im 18! im so exited and happy though! i miss them so much! they need to come back to the u.k together! <3

Definitely thrilled, not shocked. Smile

This has been in the cards for a while, now. And, by them saying they've "matured," I think they genuinely mean just that. I don't think they're gonna be drinking & drugging... or writing inappropriate lyrics, now. They come from a good family with great morals, & their parents have been there with them every step of the way. They're young men now. Disney is clearly no longer an appropriate fit for them. And, I think that their new music will definitely have a more mature sound and message.

When Nick stepped aside to do his solo project, that was his idea of a "more mature sound," and it was awesome. Really raw. Had a lot of heart & meaning. Not to mention, he gained a lot of respect and new fans from it.

If they can fuse all of their influences and talents together, there will be no stopping them. There's pretty much no limit to how big these guys can become. Now that they're free of Disney... get ready for a comeback that will truly cross over.

So excited for this!

They've now been dumped by two record labels. Not a good sign...

They clearly were not dropped. Come on, now. They're older. This was bound to happen, eventually. They HAD to leave.

Do you read good? It says they made the choice as a group to leave when they could of renewed.

I have to agree-I've worked in this industry quite awhile & anytime a label lets you buy the rights to your masters and merch, it's because they're letting YOU go. Disney used them for all they were worth and were done with them. Plain and simple. It happens all the time.

Anonymous said:

Oh yeah! How could i hear them?

Anonymous said:

honestly 4 all sayin they were dropped they werent their manager said they decided 2 leave and i dont blame them and by the way the decided 2 leave from columbia records too because i watched their e special i would know. the jonas brothers r starting their own label and so whats the problemdidnt justin bieber start his own label with his manager go check his wiki page if u dont believe me
and u cant compare one direction 2 justin to jonas. jonas r a rock band, 1d r a group and justin is a solo artist

Yeah I bet you've been in the industry for many years. Going to OU is the cool thing to do amongst record executives.

Good luck with that! Now you will really be obsolete.

Well, industry people do get on these sites all the time-including Papa Jonas and Disney-that's how they know what they have to spin tomorrow to get the little girls panties out of a bunch. And just because someone says they work in the "industry" doesn't mean they're a top level "executive". Lots of people get paid JUST to patrol these sites for CAA, etc. to head off rumors before they become problems.

I'm fine with them leaving Hollywood records. It feels like time. But I am crushed about them changing their logo. The JB symbol has been a representation of them to fans for the past 6 years. Getting rid of that logo is like saying "we aren't the same band anymore. We want to forget the past"

i feel like my childhood just ended...

I, in a way, feel the same. The jonas brothers were a big part of me growing up and finding who I am. was in 7th grade when I became a Jonas brothers fan, now I am almost a senior. I want the jonas brothers to come back, but I know they will be different now. It is an end to an era. I I fear JB will become something unrecognizable, forgetting their roots and the music they used to make.

Their new logo is fucking ugly.

THIS. My cousin described it perfectly as "techno". That better not be their new sound. I really liked their old logo and I feel like getting rid of it is a betrayal of their past as artists. I mean, if they wanted to get a new logo why didn't they at least pic something that looked good and represented them well.

For guys who sold 17 million albums, they sure never got much radio play. Sorry, but what kind of record company doesn't get radio play for its artists? Hollywood Records was happy as long as girls were screaming down the street after them, but did not get the Jobros more mature songs any radio play, which could have gotten them more respect from older fans. Bye Bye Hollywood Records.

few things to point out here. First of all. 'If they let Joe put into his new CD all those naughty songs they might have some kind of freedom. I am sorry but their choice was stupid". Excuse me, he's an artist. He can express himself the way he wants to. He worked really hard to find what kind of music to do by his own and he's been at the studio for weeks trying to write the wongs with his team.
Second of all, people judging that Joe and kevin drink and Joe goes out at night. Well, well..welcome to reality where people grow up and they have some fun in life. He's just 22 year guy old who's known all around the world and yet he's got the right to go out and get drunk if he wants to. He's grown up enough to make his own choices of what to do in life.

As a fan I am very grateful to Hollywood Records because they had been a helping hand when the Jonas Brothers hand no a record label to work with. When it comes about music bussiness it'll be all about money and image but yet HR let the guys have some kind of freedom too and nobody can deny that. it's an exciting thing to know the JB are taking this so serious and they are looking forward making so many real changes. We've all grown up with them and it was about time for all of us to enjoy brand new things on the way. People need to stop complainning so much. Don't like the new logo? just leave their side, the best fans will stay with them. You should all be happy because they've created a brand new image and logo that they finally are 110 % happy with after three years. it's been so long, you can't expect them to be the same as 2007. My god! Be happy and excited and stop being so damn selfish people! Enjoy the fact your idols are trying new stuff for them and for us too.
