‘Taylor Dating Guys Just To Write A Song’?

Millionaire Matchmaker Patti Stanger to Us Weekly: ‘Taylor Swift dates guys so she can write a breakup song about them. I don’t think she’s dating for love, I think she’s dating for creativity. Let’s get her off the market and put her in dating detox. If she really wants love, she has to stop writing music about them. I’d put Justin Bieber and Taylor into dating detox, maybe together.’

6 months ago everyone was crazy about Taylor Swift, and nobody ever said anything bad about her. But apparently it’s easy to come up with reasons to hate people. She doesn’t “date guys just to write songs”. She writes songs to let out her emotions. If you don’t like it, don’t listen to her music. She doesn’t even date that many guys. Every time she’s even seen out with a guy the media tells everyone it’s a relationship. It’s not. Just because you’re at the fucking zoo with someone doesn’t mean you’re dating. I hate when people believe every single thing in the media. They’re lying to get attention. They lie all the fucking time. Stop believing everything you read! All her songs aren’t even about love. Have you ever listened to Mean, Change, Tied together with a smile (for the person saying she should write about eating disorders), 22, Brought up that way, Innocent… Want me to go on? Stop hating on everyone and everything and get a life.

The difference between Taylor & men dating as many people as she has is that men aren’t complaining. She’s serial dating a making herself out to be a victim, not a champion. Her “oh-innocent-wronged-me” gimmick is what the issue is. She looks at revenge as a virtue(or it seems like she does). THAT is the issue. She can still write about love, but the way she writes about it most of the time now speak to an entitled/blind-to-the-truth nature. And I say this as a fan. “All Too Well” is a fantastic song imo. I just wish it was rare to hear her placing blame.

If you want an honest, unbiased answer. Why are people picking on her while she’s writing about love songs like others?

It’s because she’s writing about SOMEONE specifically, and outing them in a way. Several other artists do it, such as Adele. However, they do it in an ‘artsy’ context.

Taylor links faces and names, and in a sense, it’s like that bathroom stall that everyone writes things about. However, she’s not doing it anonymously, and she’s not anonymous about the guys either. And it’s not 1,2, or 3 guys. She’s done it in a lot of ways. For one, spelling out hints just to relate who the song is to, in the lyrics is just.. immature. It’s a song, it’s a piece of art in a sense, not a way to bash and unravel who it’s about.

Sigh. The lyrics, her lyrics, you can’t come up with those kinda lyrics if you didn’t feel anything in the relationship. Tbh she has nothin else to write about so why do people always pick on her ? Would you rather have her sing about Sex, Drugs, Weed, Smoking, Partying ? I prefer her this way.
    ___

But she has written love songs that aren’t about any of her relationships. Songs like Crazier shes said so herself aren’t about anyone and were just written for fun. Just saying.

The funny thing though is that most of her songs are not bashing anyone, a lot of them are actually really sad. Out of all the albums she’s had, only a few could be considered “bashing”. Most of her songs are thoughtful and about how she misses them or something.

I really think it’s ok to write songs about love, and I doubt that EVERY song she has written were about an experience of herself. When I used to write songs, some of them weren’t about things I experienced or about someone in particular. I just invented some of them, I was being creative. It’s like writing a story, not always it needs so be real.

Anyways, I do think however that Swift exaggerates with the quantity of love songs. She could also write about other things, like her angsts and doubts about life or pain that she suffers from other things other than love relationships… She could also write about social issues and be socially engaged you know… But she’s a country singer, it’s not going to happen. For some reason, country is all about love mostly.

I do think she is unfaithful. Look at those times she dated then nothing worked out. I don’t like her anyway. All I get from her songs is that she dated a lot.

  • mmm….

I don’t really understand how anyone can have a “relationship” with someone after only being with that person for 3 months. I think many of you here really have no idea that your being pplayed. I don’t like Taylor not becaus she writes love songs but its the way she feels as if the guy should fall at her feet and do anything she asks. It also is apparent in her songs that it is her way or the highway with her. She is immature and insufferable in every song regardless about what the song is about. The only way I know this is becase my friend use to LOVE listening to her until she relised what I had been telling her all along that her songs are about ownership over every man and she DOESN’T feel complete unless someone is worshiping her. It’s really disgusting and I don’t feel as though that makes her a role model. Women shouldn’t feel as though every guy will do them wrong as there are guys that will treat you right.

Is Patti even married? I think there are certain things in life that noone can really have enough experience with to give advice on. Marriage and how to raise your children. Because a successful relationship ultimately would result in a successful marriage which is only successful if it last until death and is happy right? So the only people who have had a successful marriage.. and therefore are qualified to give advice are dead. Also… parents never live to see how their children end up. So thats another thing that I find fascinating some people feel they know everything about.

I don’t know anything about anything, but thats everyone.

patti stanger is a fuckin’ moron and so is anyone who believes that taylor swift puts herself through personal and emotional hell just to write songs. she’s taken a lot of flack for her relationships and I don’t think she would put herself through that (especially because she’s super conscious of her reputation) just for material or ~inspiration. she’s proven with songs like “stay, stay, stay” – a song about a daydream she had (totally imaginary!) – and “ronan,” which was inspired by ronan’s mom’s blog, that she is creative and inventive enough to craft beautiful songs without having to experience things firsthand. should she take some time to find herself and be comfortable alone, without defining herself by a guy? absolutely. I think that’d be really healthy for her. but to suggest that she /uses/ these guys to write songs is absurd.

if the whole dating men situation with taylor is working out, maybe she should start dating girls.

Is she? Because in a lot of songs she’s not even blaming anyone for anything. In only three songs on her new album does Taylor blame and portray the guy as the bad guy. The moment I knew, We are never ever getting back together, and Girl at home. She has actually written way less than people think she has. And who says that she wasn’t the victim in the songs she wrote? Why do you think you know more about her relationships, then Taylor herself?

My mom had a friend who had the worst luck with guys. If you put 99 nice guys in one room, and 1 jerk, she’d pick the jerk. She just has bad luck. It happens. Finding the one can be pretty hard for some people. Give her a break.

I still think that it’s funny that Taylor is the only artist to get flack for writing songs about love. 90% of songs are about love nowadays and usually if they aren’t, they’re about drugs, alcohol, or sex. What’s the matter with writing about love?

    ——-

THIS SO MUCH. /especially/ when this is what she has been doing (writing, in large part, about love and relationships) since she released her first album like six or seven YEARS ago. she has been so successful using ~young love~ to relate to her target audience, it wouldn’t make sense for her to depart from that too quickly or drastically. she has proven (in interviews and within her own song lyrics) that she IS fairly self-aware and realizes that her love life is pretty ill-fated. she’s only 23, and I predict that over the next couple years, we’ll (hopefully) see her mature. in the meantime though, everyone should stop being so hard on her. life in the public eye isn’t easy, and the only reason all her songs about relationships are drawing so much ire now is that her relationships are more high-profile, and that’s not fair. if you don’t like her or her music, don’t listen to it. simple as that. leave the girl alone.

Ugh, yes. I know. What do people expect her to write about? If she were to start writing about drugs, sex, and alcohol, she would get so much flack. People would say that she needs to stick to writing about love. People are hypocrites and we just need to accept that. We can’t please everyone, so like you said, if you don’t like her music, don’t listen to it.

I love that gif! She’s so cute, yet beautiful! I do think she’s dating for media attention though, because she knows relationships with famous guys = her selling more CDs. It’s sad, but that’s what her fans expect. If she were to change her style, I don’t think she’d have much success. She’s not a stupid girl, she knows what to do to sell, it’s just getting a bit weird with all the different guys…

Actually, you can write those kinds of lyrics without experiencing it yourself. Even her fans could tell you that not all of her songs are about her or things she’s actually been through.

I like Taylor as a musician, but saying everything she does is fine just cause she’s a songwriter is like saying it’s okay for John Mayer to act like a douche cause at least he’s writing about love and heartbreak instead of violence and prostitutes. It’s the bigger picture, really. She’s the role model of a generation & she has said to wants to be one, which makes her at least somewhat accountable.

  • Anonymous

No shit? About as obvious as saying people breathe air.

  • Anonymous

And also, a good songwriter like her has plenty to write about besides just fairytales & being done wrong. “Best Day” was different, so it’s not like she can’t.

  • Robbie

This bitch is ridiculous. Honestly, it’s like the entire world is wrong and she’s innocent. Ones you’ve dated 30 different guys and none of them workout, you’re clearly doing something wrong or you just suck at picking a decent guy and it’s just a career stunt.

And to say “Taylor has nothing else to write about but heartbreak” is foolish. I write songs and I’ve never experienced love. I write about the problems with today’s society, drunk driving, anorexia, suicide, religion, self-acceptance, being confident.

There are SO many things to write about. I need to get my music out there. Love stories are getting rubbed down.

IA. Besides most songs this days are about love. The only difference is that Taylor sometimes puts a name on the lyrics.

She is 23 with amazing talent and likes arm candy. If she was a guy society would be in awe of her dating experiences. I say she is pretty damn smart if she can capitalize on the BS of love and life. Most of the guys she has outed in sings have deserved everything they got.
