Singer songwriter Jake Bugg was asked about people calling the former One Direction ‘rock stars’ because of their after-show antics: Bugg told ShortList: ‘Who the f**k is saying that? Oh, I’m pretty sure they have a good laugh. But it’s easy to, isn’t it? When you don’t have to write any songs.
People [call them the new Beatles] because they broke America, but that don’t mean a thing. I mean, [One Direction] must know that they’re terrible. They must know.. Calling them the new rock stars is a ridiculous statement. And people should stop making it. They’ll be forgotten because young girls will grow up’. He recently dismissed Mumford & Sons as ‘posh farmers with banjos. It’s my job to keep that X Factor s**t off the top of the charts.’
One Direction were reportedly snubbed by Mumford & Sons while backstage at the Brit Awards on Wednesday Mumford & Sons beat them to be named ‘Best British Group’ while One Direction came out on top in the ‘Global Success’ category. When the group went over to the folk band to congratulate them, they allegedly ignored their approaches, according to The Mirror.
‘The bands were passing in the corridor and 1D made an attempt to chat to them and say there were no hard feelings about them both winning different categories. But Mumford were having none of it. They didn’t want to know.
It was really awkward and everyone noticed.’ Louis said: ‘It was disappointing. Mumford’s reaction was disappointing. We’re really big fans and wanted to congratulate them. It was a shame.’
