Selena Gomez to ZEIT on what she imagines herself doing in 20 years. It has been translate twice [Via SelenaBrazil]: When I was little, I always had crazy dreams. With seven years old my dream was to meet the boys in the band N’Sync, I idolized. Singing and dancing with them. I was so obsessed with them, I wanted to know exactly what clothes they were wearing, what they ate and with whom they went. Then I dreamed of marrying singer Jesse McCartney.
These dreams have changed over the years. But a dream that has been with me since childhood: being on stage, in the spotlight, acting and singing. At first this seemed to be far away or out of reach. I grew up in simple circumstances. My parents separated when I was seven. My mother was an actress and acted in small theaters, she lived for several jobs, and constantly struggled to sustain me. In my childhood and adolescence, sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night because he had nightmares, tormented, always called my mother.
When I was fourteen, my mother and I moved from Texas to Los Angeles, away from my biological father and my friends. It was a difficult time for me, sometimes I felt alone and abandoned. Even today, on occasion, I wish to have continued in my school with my old friends and have gone to the prom. If I could, I would like to recover this experience. But I always enjoyed my work as an actress, I learned to accept any challenge, look good in tough times and being away from people I love. I always knew why. And today is so. Now my dreams..
are within my reach and are more plans and goals. I’m not thinking much about the future. The question, how my life will be in ten or twenty years makes me nervous and makes me even a little nervous. But I still have a big dream: To me it’s important I get involved and help people who do not have the same luck I have. Even when we were little, my mother made it clear that there are always people who are worse and it is important to be there for each other. And now I’m
in a situation where I can do more. And if my music career in film or do not work, I’d love to attend a culinary school and open a small restaurant. When I was a kid my father always helped to cook. I love the kitchen Texan, Mexican and Italian. My restaurants were small, intimate and decorated in my favorite colors, purple and gold.
