Miley Wanted ‘Black’ Sound For Single

mileyblacksound-2

Timothy and Theron Thomas told VIBE about Miley Bieber’s new single ‘We Can’t Stop': ‘When you listen to the Miley Cyrus record that we did, it’s not ratchet but it definitely has a lot of urban feel to it. She was like, ‘I want urban, I just want something that just feels Black.”

Miley took the song after Rihanna passed on it: ‘They played it for Miley and she had just come from partying. She was like, ‘I was just partying with my friends and everything you just said in this song I seen. I was looking at it from standing on a couch with my friends, just chilling in the cut and looking around the club like whoa…I’m hearing the song like that was my weekend. I have to do this song,’ [she said] and then we just got connected from there.”

Producer Mike Will Made It told MTV: ‘It was kind of crazy ’cause.. when I originally worked on ‘We Can’t Stop,’ we had did it for Rihanna. The idea was more towards Rihanna. And then Rihanna, she heard [her Unapologetic track] ‘Pour It Up,’ and then she got on ‘Pour It Up’ right away. And she didn’t even hear ‘We Can’t Stop.’ So then we finished up the record.

Miley liked it, so I thought we were going to knock out one record, and we ended up going in, caught a good vibe, and she’s real cool, regular person. We went in, she nailed the record, and she did it with her swag. So it sounds totally different than from what we originally tried to come up with.’

sorry, i just heard that ‘black’ sound is for white people too. Sorry, Miley. :(

As a black person, I’m just like “smh” at this whole thing. I’m sure she wasn’t trying to be offensive, but she should just choose her words wisely. She could have stuck with “urban” instead of saying black. I just find this humorous. I don’t ever take Miley serious though.

  • bethanie

    @LoveMeNone

Yessss! She’s associating the term urban with black…like people do with Rap, Hip-Hop, and RnB. It kind of reminds of what Frank Ocean said about how his music isn’t necessarily RnB but Alternative music…but he was thrown into the Urban category at the Grammy Awards.

This has nothing really to do with it, but it just reminded me of that for some reason lol.

really? selena’s single never went to #1 and miley did it in few hours and yes miley’s single debuted on #11 on the billboard chart without any promotion so u better get ur facts straight

I find it racist people think she’s sounding black? Because black people are the only ones who like to party, get drunk and fuck? Are you trying to say black people are uneducated? You’re racist

Selenas single didnt do so good to begin with plus its been out for about 8 week. this is we cant stop 2nd week and its already in the billboards top 20 and hit #1 on itunes in hours. during this time C&GI was no where to be found. selena needed 5 award show performances to get her song recognition

    1) I can’t remember exactly which state, but they have been using the word “ratchet” for years now. It only became annoying when people like Miley started using it, and it became mainstream.

    2) Black people sing in ALL kinds of genres and styles. You’re right; she should have left it as “urban”, even if we knew what she actually meant.

way to ‘shock’ the world miley. smh i would respect her more if she stuck to being HERSELF instead of trying so damn hard. I personally can not stand her personality. I do NOT think she can sing the way her stans claim she can. BUT, as a country singer I think she would be great. I love her cover of Jolene. If she stuck to that type of music I could legitimately be a fan. But no, she has to pull these stupid stunts, try to act like other people, etc. Its pathetic. Let me know when she grows up and starts acting right.

  • SellyismygirlCrush

Why are people still so hung up on this chick?
This new Miley is annoying as fuck.
She’s just going with whats popular right now.

  • Anonymous

Is black sound good for Miley? Is Miley acting black?

  • LoveMeNone

I hate it when pop stars exploit urban culture for success, they don’t get where it comes from. Its more than just party music and Miley would know that if she educated herself before she just tried to be down. Because we all know Hannah Montana is not about that life.

  • Anonymous

I hate when people use the term “sound black” or “act black”. When are people going to realize that black people sing all kinds of genres and don’t all act and sound the same? That’s like saying that Taylor Swift and Kesha have the same sound just because they’re both white chicks.

But I shouldn’t expect anything more from an uneducated dipstick like Miley Cyrus.

  • Kat

I used to love Miley’s style but now its like she is bipolar. She can’t figure out who she is and just ups and change everything about her in a day. First she was country, than pop, now hiphop rap or whatever? Its just weird. Its like she just uses her clothing for attention. That stripper mankini thing she’s wearing does nothing for her. Hope she eventually finds herself.

  • nownlaterz

I want my music to sound black

    Miley..bye.

  • Anonymous

Are you guys done writing extraordinarily biased crap about Miley yet? OceanUp is slowly becoming some random teens site to bash an artist with petty words. Miley Bieber? seriously? When did this become a 12 year olds twitter account?

  • Anonymous

Well, she didn’t succeed. She does not sound “black”. Ratchet? Why not.

  • Anonymous

Oh, yeah. Those boobs aren’t “flauntable.”

  • Anonymous

She tries anyway too hard being black. And how can she get so much credit for something she didnt even write or made?? Thats idiotic she did nothing for it

  • Anonymous

    Nice boobs Miley

    Bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch!!!!!!

Here’s to all you selena stans and yes that includes you subwaytovenus — Y’all just can’t stand the fact that Miley’s ‘We Can’t Stop’ kicked ass. Straight to #1 in 6hrs. in the US, #1 in 24 countries, top 5 in 46 countries, #3 in digital downloads on billboard, and debuted at #11 on billboards top 100. So I’m thinking that ‘WE CAN’T STOP’ did not fail in it’s first week.

So go ahead and weep, selena stans, because the QUEEN IS BACK — MILEY :)

    ——————————————–

Yeah I hate that too! But it’s often reciprocated from both races lol. There are uneducated people in EVERY race. It’s kind of like how some of my fellow black people will say “oh, you sound white” or “you talk white” to someone who speaks eloquently and properly. It’s like, not all white people are prim and proper. I’ve seen some of the most ratchet (yes, I said “ratchet”) people be white and there are also a lot of black people that are intelligent and proper-speaking individuals. The way someone speaks and acts doesn’t belong to any one race. People just need to stop being so stereotypical.

so she’s going for a ‘black’ image now??

is that why she’s dressing so trashy and like a tramp all the time now? (well, more than what she’s done in the past)
and always smoking weed or doing drugs?

    *SMFH*

  • Anonymous

^^not meant to make it sound like THAT would “comprise” a ‘black image’

just saying she’s changed all this behavior of hers and now this comes out, is that what SHE thinks will make her seem more ‘black’??

    #ShesATwatEitherWay

  • AnonymousJen

    So Sad

She has totally become a trashy whore

  • Anonymous

nothing against her but this whole “True Miley” thing is nothing but a lie… well it feels like one, when you’re truly yourself, you don’t need to prove it and she’s trying way too hard to show us her “true self”… she needs to understand that nobody will take her seriously with this attitude, she’s just adding herself to the list of disney girls who try hard to leave their pure image without success.

  • Anonymous

I see this pictures and still can’t figure out how Miley fans dare to call Selena names because of her role in Spring breakers when Miley is doing this new facet, wearing the minimal clothes at her photo shoots and sometimes in public AS HERSELF

  • Anonymous

I will tear Miley’s skimpy swimsuit and she’ll ride me cowgirl style and see her big tits bounce up and down up and down. Also touching Miley’s big tits while she rides my dick. And also tittyfuck her. OH YEAH!!!!!! :)

I will fucking body slam miley Cyrus’s body on the curb while her whole family watches.
