Lorde, ‘Is Miley Cyrus For Real?’

New Zealand’s Lorde, whose single ‘Royals’ topped Miley Cyrus’ ‘Wrecking Ball’ on iTunes, told SPIN that she hopes inject some authenticity into the pop scene: ‘I love Top 40 pop, don’t get me wrong.

I just don’t think that there’s anyone in Top 40 pop that’s ‘real.’ Is there though? I’m just not sure.. I mean that Miley Cyrus song [‘We Can’t Stop’]. That could be her life. Who knows what’s real? That’s the point though; who knows what’s real?’

Due Sept. 30 via Universal, Pure Heroine features ‘Royals,’ ‘Tennis Court,’ and ‘Team.’ Her real name is Ella Yelich-O’Connor and she’s 16: On her album: ‘I want people to just listen to it and see for themselves.’

NOTE: Katy Perry supports Miley. She told E! ‘I have heard her sing ‘Wrecking Ball’ before that single came out and I tweeted about it a long time ago before it even came out and I was just so excited about it for her. She’s got a set of pipes that are incredible.’
