Taylor Swift now has more Top 40 hits than Rolling Stones, reports Billboard ‘Everything Has Changed’ Taylor’s duet with Ed Sheeran, become her 42nd top-40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. In their 50-year career, the Stones managed 41, as did Jay-Z , who’s been on the scene since the mid-90s, and the late R&B legend Marvin Gaye .

Taylor scored so many hits because she usually releases multiple cuts from her new albums in advance, and they all end up selling hundreds of thousands of downloads, which rockets them up the chart. Back in the day, before digital downloads, this never happened.

If five tracks from Taylor’s new album end up in the top 40 she’ll surpass Aretha Franklin, James Brown and Stevie Wonder. If seven track, she’ll be tied with Madonna who’s had 49 top-40 hits.
