Lorde’s ‘Royals’ leads the Billboard Hot 100 for an eighth week, keeping Eminem’s “The Monster,” featuring Rihanna, at bay at No. 2 for a second frame. The latter song is closing in on the summit, however, threatening to take over at No. 1 perhaps as soon as next week.
‘Royals’ crowns the Radio Songs chart for a fifth week with 160 million audience impressions (down 5%), according to Nielsen BDS, reports Billboard. It drops 1-2 on the subscription services-based On-Demand Songs chart, after six weeks in charge, with 2.3 million on-demand U.S. streams, according to BDS (down 2%).
It rebounds to its No. 2 peak on the overall Streaming Songs chart (7.1 million U.S. streams, down 2%) and slips 2-3 on the Digital Songs chart (158,000 downloads sold, down 5%, according to Nielsen SoundScan), which it led for five weeks. Royals is #1 on Rock Songs for a 12th week and reaches the Top 10 (11-10) on the Adult Contemporary airplay chart.
Miley Cyrus’ former two-week Hot 100 No. 1 ‘Wrecking Ball’ remains at No. 3. It returns for a seventh week atop Streaming Songs (2-1; 8.7 million, up 11%) and lifts 5-4 on Radio Songs (113 million, up 1%). On Digital Songs, which it led the week of Sept. 28, it retreats 7-10 (105,000, down 13%). As previously reported, ‘Ball’ becomes Cyrus’ second No. 1 on the Pop Songs radio airplay chart.
