Santa To Be Changed White To Black?

Should Santa Claus’ image be changed from a white man to a black man or somewhere in between? FOX News debates the topic using a young black girl’s letter saying she did not feel included in the tradition because Santa was white. She suggested that penguin be used instead.

Do YOU think Santa Claus’ image should be changed?

We have bigger issues in the world than this.

LMFAO i cant even xD these first two answers, i didnt expect that haahahaa

  • anonymous

if he’s gonna change he’s got to become 13.1% ‘black’. also i think he should more change to be latino. 16.9% to be exact

    • fghjk

sorry latin is not a race

      • amy

“race” isn’t even a real thing anyway and they never said that Latino was a race. Latino is an ethnicity though, so if Santa is going to be changed to include the “black” ethnicity, why shouldn’t it also include the “Latino” ethnicity.

        • fghjk

no latin is not a ethnicity please dont made a crap

    • Sarah Goodwich

13% black? HELL, we already HAVE a jolly guy who gives away lots of presents from other people’s bank-accounts and debts YEAR ROUND– and he’s HALF black!

  • Dara

Smh. I am so done with America. GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER, OR I’M MOVING TO A DIFFERENT COUNTRY.

So which country should I move to?

    • GHGH

Can I go? I want to get the fuck out of this country too!!

    • Rah

The Netherlands, they’ve got their shit together.

      • laura

        Or Belgium, we do too.

        • Laura

ahh you have the same username as me.

    • Sarah Goodwich

Does it matter? They’re all the same when it comes down to politicians screwing the people over.

Of ALL the problems in the world… And in the US, this is what FOX (a major News Broadcast Station) is debating.. The media is filling our heads with garbage, and trying to distract us from REAL issues.

    • Deidre

obviously you don’t watch the news… every news program on every news station has different segments. The more serious segments come in the beginning of the program and talk about major issues. Near the end of the program, they talk about topics that are less important, like this one. Its like a “miscellaneous” section. These segments are also shorter than the more important talking points at the beginning of the show.

You know what this is, a classic case of parents poisoning the minds of their kids. Education and awareness is one thing, but to raise your child with the mentality of divisions between races is just reinforcing racial divisions and racism. We need to filter this out of society. The only realistic way is through our children/the youth and how we raise them and shape their minds. In so many places around the globe, it feels like people are just on a mission to reverse the roles of the past oppression instead of empowering those who were oppressed. It’s not only happening in homes(sadly enough), but through laws that allow you to attain better jobs and a better chance at receiving acceptance into universities and attaining government aids based on your race. In South Africa(where I live), we have to put up with working our butts off, just to be turned down for work, based on the colour of our skin. The black economic empowerment act was put into place to aid those previously disadvantaged by apartheid, but it’s affecting a generation that didn’t even live through apartheid and we’re now facing the possibility of this act not only excluding white people but also other non whites such as Indians, purely because the predominantly black run government only wants black people to be empowered, not the other non whites who also suffered during apartheid. It truly feels like racism and the reversal of power based on race will never end. Do you know that as an Indian, I would need 90% in all subjects and above to even be considered for medical school, but probably would get turned down as I’d need almost perfect scores and I’d have to get lucky and hope others didn’t do so well because they are only allowed a selected amount from each race group. The most taken from black students aand the least from whites. Even with many more black students being accepted, they still only need to make 60% to begin to be considered and many get taken even with grades that are not A’s. It sucks also because there’s this battle between white and black and the rest of us get stuck in the middle and always on the losing end.

There are a bunch of black Santa’s. Not as many az white Santa’s. But they exist. In malls, on tv etc. This is just ridiculous. The government wastes time sorting out dumb disputes over fictional characters while the world crumbles. Christmas is about Jesus anyway. If this was a dispute over the race of Christ, that would make more sense.

  • LikeICare

Lmao this is sooo stupid, anyone who says that is racist themselves.
    we have bigger problems, damn

  • amanda

There are black santas and white santas. This is ridiculous. I can’t even begin to comment on this honestly. This irritated the crap out of me.

  • poor girl

Y’all can leave, no one is stopping you. I hate how Faux (yes faux) News takes the insecurities of a little girl to race bait. Some of you say there are more important things in the world, then offer no topics. There may be more important things, but the way you all say it is as if you just want to sweep this particular issue under the rug because it’s about race. Anyway, there are black Santa’s…too bad the only ones we see on mainstream television are the white ones.

    • amy

That is because traditionally Santa is white. St. Nicholas was white, so thus Santa Claus is white. I’m not saying that Santa should not be black, I’m just explaining why Santa is usually portrayed as a white man. It is just tradition. Also, why is no one asking why there aren’t any asian or hispanic Santas or the many other “races” and ethnicities?

    • deidre

it seems as though you didn’t watch the segment because you are bashing fox news and at the same time you agree with what is said in the segment….

  • DEBZ

    Oh my gosh… Seriously?!
I’m black, and IT DOESN’T MATTER!!! Who friken cares if Santa, is white, purple, polka dotted or stripped?! IT DOESN’T MATTER, HES NOT REAL!

  • Britney

c’mon guys this is fox news!

  • thatonegirl

smh yet another reason i refuse to watch fox news.

  • Laura

I swear sometimes I feel like Fox news are just a bunch of trolls. There is no way that a major news station can seriously be debating this.

    • deidre

obviously you don’t watch the news… every news program on every news station has different segments. The more serious segments come in the beginning of the program and talk about major issues. • Laura

A news station shouldn’t even be wasting their time on this topic. BTW everyone basically sees Fox news as a joke.

        • Deidre

funny you say that when they are the number one cable news channel…
educate yourself on a topic before you are going to make comments like that

        • Deidre

also, FOX is not the only station that has segments like this. Again, educate yourself on the topic. All news programs report on random small stories like this everyday.

  • Deidre

Quiet frankly, I am disturbed after reading these comments. I know that none of you watch the news by reading your comments. Also, for those of you bashing FOX, I can tell that you are repeating what others have told you about the station because I can tell that you have never watched a show on FOX news before (or any other news station, for that matter.)
This is what is wrong with the youth of America. I see it everyday at school. Everyone has an opinion, yet their opinions are based on assumptions because they do not educate themselves before they speak. For example: WATCH THE SEGMENT BEFORE COMMENTING ON IT. And, WATCH FOX NEWS BEFORE YOU CALL IT “GARBAGE” AND “FAUX NEWS.”

    • ashleyofcourse

actually sometimes even the news on tv are an unreliable source to educate ones self on a topic. at least in america. they edit and censor like crazy from what ive heard. and yes it is heresay cause i dont care to watch the news. because in the 21st century its not the only resource for current events.
“Everyone has an opinion, yet their opinions are based on assumptions because they do not educate themselves before they speak.”
truly if you wished to educate yourself, youd look up facts and hard copy documents because some news stations are biased.

      • Deidre

everything you just critiqued was completely irrelevant. i dont even know where to start, but i have to say that you completely missed the meaning of my earlier comment.
        1. written news= televised news when it comes to credibility. Also, this is unrelated to the topic at hand because this segment was speaking about an actual letter that was written (it is not made up) and the commentators on the show were discussing about the race of santa, no hard facts needed, they were exchanging their thoughts.

        2. because you say you do not watch the news, that deems you UNEDUCATED ON THE TOPIC of televised news. so when i said that you have an opinion based on assumption, i was talking about how you, and everyone else, who was commenting how you couldnt believe this topic was being spoken about on TV and bashing FOX, i was trying to explain that if you actually watched the news, you would understand that every news program has short segments reporting on random current events, such as a stupid letter written on the race of santa.

        • ellie

The lady on this segment said that Jesus was white… so i think it is understandable that people think FOX is a joke

i dont think we need a black santa. i feel sorry for this girl that she feels this way and i dont doubt there are other non white children who have felt this way, but its not that serious of an issue. its just santa. damn hes not even real though. i mean st nick was real but santa aint. hahaa heres how i see it, their parents should just sit them down and teach them about feeling beauty regardless of what the others say. this way they can live life without giving a crap about santa’s skin color. people try to stop me all the time trying to convince me that Jesus was black. honestly
    i.
    do.
    not.
    give.
    a.
    crap.
bottom line is he died for our sins and thats ALL i intend to care about. he could have white skin he could have black skin he could look asian for all i care, doesnt matter cause thats not what Jesus is about.
And skin color is not what Santa is about. and it wouldnt do any good to have santas of every race cause that just takes us a step back into segregation imo.
but yeah like the first two comments addressed: there are more important things in this world…

  • Rah

I actually really like the idea of a Santa Penguin…

  • http://instagram.com/foreverjordan thesestrangelittlethings

Saint Nick is portrayed in whatever ethnicity the majority of the country is, and it should stay that way. In the US, Santa is white, while I’m sure in Africa, he’s black, French, Arabic, or whatever cultures migrate throughout the country. I’m going to guess that in Asia, there are Asian Santa’s. Santa should stay primarily Caucasian, and no, I am not a fully biased white person. We’re accustomed to white Santa, and I don’t even know why I’m commenting on this post. Like said before, we have bigger problems.

    • ijustneedyounow

some other countries don’t even believe in santa clause because they have thier own traditions. santa is mostly american. in asia there are very few christians so they don’t even celebrate christmas. germans “believe” in baby jesus and i think french people have what’s called “noël”

  • Isir

Typical! This is FOX! Nobody takes it seriously! PLEASE. And to the idiot claiming that fox is a legitimate source of news and current affairs (“miscellaneous” section) I worry for you. No seriously I really do. FOX is a news channel (and i use the term ‘news’ very lightly) that aims to pollute the minds of the uneducated, misogynist, racist and idiotic. I happen to be black and I find this crazy. This story does its best to wider the division between black and white people by focusing of race. Its all about colour to them.

    • Deidre

hahahahaha have you ever watched it in your entire life? also when i say “miscellaneous segments” im referring to when news programs have segments of their shows reporting on random things, usually near the end, as you can see this segment on Santa was at 9:45 (45 minutes into the hour show), this just like EVERY NEWS PROGRAM ON ANY STATION.
And you’re worried for me??? give me one story that fox news has reported that makes you say it is illegitimate. Again, having opinions based on ASSUMPTIONS

  • Marina And My Diamonds

I’m black and I’m saying no. Santa is who he is – white and not real. This is not important nor worth talking about. Does that mean every character needs another race to it? Do we need a black Spongebob as well? A Creole Phineas and Ferb ooorrr what about an Asian Easter Bunny? What’s next?!

    • ashleyofcourse

      creole phineas and ferb.
      oh my word.
      im dying x’D

  • Silver

Santa lives in the North Pole…. How can he be black? Unless you want him to move to Africa.

    • Billy Bowles

I don’t think him living anywhere is the reasons why people feel he should be black. In fact, the place people live has nothing at all to do with their skin color or race. My father lives in Puerto Rico. Last i checked, he isn’t Puerto Rican. And if i moved to China tomorrow, i am not going to turn Asian. Forgive me for asking this, but are you mentally challenged or anything?

      • Silver

Lol. You took offense. By ‘lives’ I obviously meant he originated from, did not know I had to spell it all out for you…. Try finding a black man who originated from the North Pole. No need to get your panties wet though…. It is a completely silly issue. lol.

  • ijustneedyounow

why not make him asian? lol

  • Claire

I also disagree with her comment on Jesus. He is mis- portrayed as a white man when He is an Arab man

  • ninja

That girl who wrote the letter said she didn’t feel included because Santa is white. Well, what about the rest of the people who are white? We won’t feel included if he is black.

  • Ha

I’m going to leave this here for the white and “good” black people who don’t want to look at the bigger issue of this and make useless excuses.

  • Zaina777

Fox news is bias and for the most part racist. Everyone knows that.

  • Sarah Goodwich

Santa lives in the Arctic Circle, and people up there are white– and they invented Father Christmas, who later became Santa Clause; that’s why he’s white.
