Bones bleed when they are fractured or broken...and the bruising can be very dramatic! I fractured my upper fibula (just below the shin), a tiny horizontal crack, and omg my leg looked like a rainbow horror show. And yes...it hurts! My break bled into my knee...ick...they had to drain the fluid away, then I felt better. But it took months to heal up properly.
