Harry Styles Hebrew + 1D Rock Band?

one-direction-japan-photo-shoot (4)One Direction’s Harry Styles is going back to school to learn Hebrew, reports Daily Star: ‘Harry’s made it his mission to learn to speak and write Hebrew. His obsession started with his tattoos, but now he’s becoming very serious about learning as much as he can. ‘So far he’s learnt to write his name and One Direction in Hebrew.’

Harry is very interested in Judaism and his fans have speculated that she’s Jewish: ‘Harry also loves kosher food. He regularly visits kosher restaurants in New York. He’s even organised for One Direction to play in Israel this year. Ben has been helping him with Jewish cultural tips and Harry has even taken the prayers at their house on the Sabbath. He bought Ben a velvet, embroidered kippah from Jerusalem.’

According to Daily Star, Harry wants 1D to become more of a rock band: ‘Harry’s dramatic plans are believed to have been hatched after hanging out with stars including The Rolling Stones, Elton John and Rod Stewart, who have urged him to take the next big step.

Harry loves being in the band and respects and loves his band mates.. But he’s very ambitious and thinks they should be growing up more and becoming more credible. Their third album Midnight Memories was already a lot less pop, but Harry wants to push it further..

He thinks their next album is the perfect time to create a much edgier and more rock ‘n’ roll image and he’s already writing songs that he wants them to include on the record. The problem is the rest of the band fear if Harry starts changing their style, he’s going to take over the whole thing.

They all have different ideas on what direction they want to take musically, and they’re becoming more and more vocal about it. Niall and Louis especially are worried about turning their backs on a pop sound and changing a winning formula.

The fear is that if Harry doesn’t get his way he could end up walking out and going solo. He doesn’t want to be five years down the line and still doing boyish pop tunes.’

I’m not Jewish, but I’ve been to enough bat/bar mitzvahs to know that there is helluva lot of dedication in becoming even the tiniest bit fluent. Props to him for trying to take on something so big.

He constantly tweets about Jewish holidays and traditions. I’m happy he’s taking the leap. Good for him.

I volunteer to teach him Hebrew. Although, not really sure why he wants to learn it, Hebrew has never come in handy for me. Chinese or Arabic would be useful to learn.

That’s awesome to take on. And hard. I wonder when he will have the time. Like real long down time for learning and practicing. I hope he follows through.
