Selena Most Powerful Girl 21 & Under

selena-gomez-most-powerful-girlSeventeen Most Powerful Girls 21 & Under. Do YOU agree with list & ranking?

1. Selena Gomez ‘The Mogul’ The Selena of 2014 is owning her place in world. Selena, 21, is not only a star actress and singer, but she is also designing clothing lines for Kmart and Adidas, she heads a movie production company,

She’s an investor in a cool app start-up, has 77 million followers between Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and she’s using her star power to help children around the world succeed as UNICEF’s youngest-ever goodwill ambassador. Selena on feeling powerful:

This year is when I really started feeling powerful. I had always been the underdog secretly. I was on Disney when it was Miley, Jonas Brothers, and Demi. I questioned the way I looked, acted, sang, and wrote.

Then I turned 20, went through a really bad breakup, and realized I needed to have ‘Come & Get It’ be amazing. I wanted it all to be me. I’m glad it’s taken me this long to get where I am because now I am ready for it.’ The REST under!

2. Demi Lovato ‘The Cool Chick’ Demi, 21, had a No. 1 song, judged ‘The X Factor,’ and scored a best-selling book! But it’s her support of girls suffering from self-harm and addiction that puts Demi so high on the list. Demi, on when she feels badass: When I’m being influential to people who really need some guidance. I could keep my self-harm and addiction issues private, or I could use them to help other people. I chose the latter, and it’s been the best decision of my life.

3. Miley Cyrus “The Rebel” From her jaw-dropping VMA performance to her super-emo hit single, “Wrecking Ball,” Miley, 21, proved that doing things on your own terms is the best way to live.

4. Victoria Justice “The Philanthropist” Victoria, 21, is making serious noise to protect girls’ rights around the world. She traveled to Guatemala with the UN Foundation’s Girl Up organization and blogged about sexual violence, girls’ lack of access to education, and inequality with boys in their communities — raising awareness and funds to help girls succeed.

5. Chloe Grace Moretz “The Bodyguard” Sure, she’s an in-demand Hollywood actress, but what’s really powerful is how Chloe, 17, speaks out about the bullying her gay brothers have experienced and how no one should have to go through that.

6. Karlie Kloss “The Model on a Mission” She owned the Victoria’s Secret fashion show runway and NYC (her billboard wraps around the biggest VS store in the world!). But Karlie, 21, is really proud that her Karlie’s Kookies business supports Feed (more than 260,000 meals given to hungry kids!). Karlie on being powerful: For me, being powerful is way more than this career built on physical beauty.

7. Gabby Douglas “The Champion” Her Olympic win was two years ago, but Gabby, 18, hasn’t powered down. She had her second best-selling book and was tireless in her work for Right to Play, which uses sports to help empower kids from disadvantaged communities.

8. Ashley Rickards “The Activist” Talk about selfless! Ashley, 21, is so committed to ending hunger and homelessness that she ate just a bowl and a half of rice and drank only water each day for a week as part of the Live Below the Line Campaign to bring attention to the pain of poverty.

9. Lorde “The Badass” Lorde, 17, earned music-royalty status this year when she channeled her opinionated voice into a self-written single that ruled the charts.

10. Cara Delevinge “The Free Spirit” Her unique beauty (those eyebrows!) is in demand, from Chanel to Stella McCartney. Pair that with her IDGAF attitude and Cara, 21, is one of today’s biggest and most relatable models.

11. Ariana Grande “The Social Superstar” The 20-year-old spends hours chatting with her 35 million social media followers – no surprise that all those fans have carried her album to a number one debut and made her show, “Sam & Cat,” a huge hit.

12. Zendaya “The Triple Threat” Youngest ‘DWTS’ contestant ever? Check. (She’s 17!) Hit single on debut album? Check. Starring role on her own new Disney show? Check. This power girl literally does. It. All.

13. Kate Upton “The Cover Girl” Kate’s major curves have graced the covers of Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue, Vogue, and Elle — proving that loving your body, not shrinking it, is seriously powerful.

14. Ariel Winter “The Brave One” We’ve watched Ariel, 16, grow up on TV’s most lovable (and successful!) “Modern Family.” And last year, she handled herself with major maturity in the face of family drama.

15. Abigail Breslin “The Veteran” She’s been acting since age 3 and scored an Oscar nom at 10, but at 17, Abigail is just getting started sharing her true self with the world — see her recent outspoken tweets about everything from boys to fashion.

16. Carly Rose Sonenclar “The Voice” Even as her first single, “Fighters,” blows up, she has a passion for helping seriously ill kids. Carly, 14, channels her ‘X Factor’ attention into fund-raising shows for The Starlight Children’s Foundation.

17. Bridgit Mendler “The Rising Star” This actress-singer, 21, is a workhorse! From starring on “Good Luck Charlie” to dropping hit songs, Bridgit doesn’t rest when she gets a taste of success. With her star just beginning to rise, she’s earning power in the world by making her own luck.

    • honesty

      Your name rofl

  • Team Selena

    U Go Girl !!!!!!!

  • Silver

Kinda agree with the list… But Selena had better step up because some of these younger girls are coming in with a very much levelled head and minimum drama. But truth be told, she does dab in almost everything…. even business wise, she has a lot of shares from what I hear.

  • Emmy

…This list is a joke. Makes no sense. Selena has no discernible talent. Ah, the Bieber fame is the only reason people give her any attention. The other girls are more deserving of higher spots on this list.

    • Silver

*Powerful. Not talented. The fact that she is not ‘talented’ and yet gets so much attention says it all.

      • Guest

She gets attention because of her relationship with Justin Beiber.

        • Godney

She is being getting attention since before bieber tho, she didnt get attention for Spring Breakers because of bieber tho.

She gets atettion because she is smart in (some) of her career choices, example Spring Breakers

  • cerenagee

I love how open and honest she is. She’s number 1 because of her good girl image and the fact that she uses her fame toward good and doesn’t really care about how famous or relevant she is. If mileys personality was like Selena’s in that aspect alone but with miley talent and famedom now she would be #1 on this list. Good for sel though. A true inspiration for young girls #selstan4life

    • nikki

It’s not just sel and miley on this list (they’re not the only females in this world why you gotta compare them) there are plenty of other more powerful girls, “good girls”, and role models under 21 some even on this list that’s why this is such a joke. (and the fact that miley is number two is even more ridiculous)

      • cerenagee

I compared them because Selena is number one and like I said if miley didn’t have the trashy image she has I think she’d be number one. I don’t think that about Cara or demi or zendaya.

      • cerenagee

And miley isn’t number 2, demi is.

    • Emmy

A “good girl” image is just a facade. You have no idea what she does in private. I like people who are upfront with you they are because what you see is what you get. She’s probably just PR savvy. I think that only people with real talent deserve a spot on this list, not people who love to use stories to pimp out their fame.

      • cerenagee

Well no duh we don’t know what she does in private. I did say image right? I didn’t say she is a good perfect angel. And even if she is PR savvy so is Miley. So is Demi. Demi milks her rehab story. Miley is overly sexual and purposely does controversial shit in anaattempt to be remembered. Someone who’s PR savvy is smart.

    • Godney

I think alot of Selena’s aceptation in the media and audience is because how “badly” miley has behave lately, if Miley had kept her image from before she would def be on the #1 on this list for sure.

      • thecat61

I’m sure Miley really doesn’t give a shit about this.

        • Godney

Did i say she did tho?

      • cerenagee

And I 100% agree which is why I said what i said. She has the power but its not geared towards promoting good its geared toward self promotion. If she had Selena’s image she’d without a doubt be number 1

        • Godney

I think miley fans have a hard time to understand this point of view because they say “oh you are wrong she has a #1 album and song etc etc etc” but that wont last forever… take gaga… take madonna, their #1 didnt last forever.

  • cerenagee

Wtf…..the part about miley’s super emo hit single… was a beautiful song about a breakup like what ha

  • Queen Amanda Bynes

Lol mostly everyone did charity work except lorde.

    • cerenagee

No offense to.lorde but atm her charity work is providing for her family and friends. Seriously no offense meant by that. I think she’s just providing for her fam right now since they were poor and once she’s famous for a longer period of time she’ll prob get into charity work

  • FuckHarry

Demi should have been number 1 tbh but other than that the list is pretty spot on.

  • Guest

How is she powerful ? Her album that doesn’t go platinum or gold ? A tour with many empty seats and early cancellation? Her movies that flop at the box office ? Her razzie nominations for worst actress ? Her clothing line and other crap she tries to sell but nobody buys? Her continually going back to a drug addict boyfriend who sleeps with groupies and prostitutes and treats her like crap?

    • thecat61

      Ikr. Lmao on this one.

    • Nikki

EXACTLY there’s come bias being shown if she is being shown in front of gabby douglas for sure

    • Silver

You confuse power with talent or brains.

      • Guest

Power is the ability to influence people to do what you want them to do.Selena can’t influence enough people to buy enough records for her album to go at least gold. She can’t influence enough people to go to her concerts, she can’t influence enough people to go see her movies, she can’t influence directors to give her good movie roles, she can’t influence enough people to buy the stuff she endorses, she can’t influence the little Canadian asshole to treat her right. The only thing she can influence people to do is be curious and read about her relationship with Beiber.

        • Ricardo

All her album are gold genius! Except Stars Dance and it would be.

        • thecat61

          Thank you!!!

        • Silver

You obviously have issues with Selena. I suggest you deal with them. Power is not just about sales. Power is also about inspiring, which is what she does. As for sales, considering that she shouldn’t even be doing all those things I think she does a pretty good job selling them.

    • Team Selena

On the outside looking in….. being so negative will never get u anywhere

      • Guest

Accepting facts and reality will get you very far Team Selena.

    • Godney

I get what you say but selena is pretty much acepted around the world, here her clothes sell pretty well, her shows are sold out , girls buy her music, spring breakers was well recibe.

She has the image that make people put her and bieber on and off story behind.

Thats something miley doesnt have because of the way she choose to sell her image.

Thats a pluss for selena, same with demi, she has the image power to make people dont really care who she dates or make it matter.

      • ge

She’s not accepted around the world, only in USA. Seriously, there are countries in which people don’t even know who she is. In my country her tour was a failure, people care more about Demi than her.

        • Godney

well of what i know in latin america (most of ) is pretty well acepted, but yeah demi is also well acepted. But i think demi is not smart with her career.

  • boystan

  • Nikki

lol at this list Gabby Douglas and Chloe Grace Moretz should have been higher and when is selena number one most powerful? lol

    • Godney

I think Chloe is not that hight because she is not that big of a celebrity. Just that.

  • fjirj

there are wayy more powerful girls of the age of 21 wealthy with bachelors degree now thats powerful and smart . what has this girl done seriously?? dating bieber ? wow

  • anonymous

why is anyone taking this marketing fakeness seriously?

  • laura

I’m sorry but one of the most powerful girls right now is Malala Yousafzai. And other powerful girls are girls that have gone through abuse, mental disorders, cancer, etc and have survived. Those girls are powerful not some celebrities who want to look like good people by getting filmed when they visit Africa, when they visit a hospital etc. They don’t do it because they want to do well for the world…
And don’t get me wrong, I find many of the girls in this list absolutely amazing and I really like them but to call them the most powerful girls out there is absolute bullshit. It would’ve been better to say that they were the most powerful celebrities under 21 but even that wouldn’t be correct..

    • :)

Yes u are right…. however the magazine is for the celebrity category. I’m sure in society they have an organization that recognizes powerful woman around the world. This is just a teenage magazine so they will talk about things that revolve around young women & celeberties.

      • laura

I just think that, since this magazine is aimed at teenagers, they should let them know about actual powerful women and not just some celebrities.

        • Team Selena

          It’s what will sell

        • cerenagee

I agree with what you’re saying but I agree with :) – they are just choosing from the most influential well known young celebs right now. But I totally agree that young girls need REAL powerful role models as well.

          • laura

That’s the thing, I didn’t know it was specifically celebs since it just said girls haha

  • Team Selena

No talent huh? I think she’s a better actress than most of these other powerful girls on the list…. I think Selena is also beautiful & smart as well as these other girls on the list.. A lot of celebrities that have worked w/ her have nothing but great things to say about her. I’m sure the mag did their research on each girl & based their results on a lot of things…. Conclusion Selena turned out to be their most powerful 21 & under girl. It is what is so get over it!

  • Marina And My Diamonds

This list is petty, I mean Cara is on this list because of her eyebrows and attitude.

  • andy

bullshit!! actually she’s a “nobody” in latin america!! her tour was a failure and she didnt go to countries where people doesnt even know who she is. But demi was a big SURPRISE, everybody loves her and her tour was super accepted!!! and miley.. well shes miley, shes the girl with the famous father and she has been on the spotlight forever, so shes more famous and more powerful than selena. STOP!!
