Debby Ryan ‘ONE’ Debut Album June 24

debby-ryan-oneDebby Ryan will release of her debut album ‘One’ on June 24, reports Billboard. Debby: ‘This album doesn’t exist because I wanted to make an album. It probably exists in spite of myself. I’ve been telling other people’s stories as an actor, and there’s a comfort for me in that.

But I started getting this insatiable need to tell stories from inside my own head, speak from my own heart.’ The 9 track album helped Debby ‘find her voice. It’s happy, it’s fun, it’s lovestruck, and stubborn; it’s broken, bruised, and healing. It’s my tongue-in-cheek, chip-on-my-shoulder, one-foot-in-front-of-the-other glass house.

It’s being teenage, becoming twenty one, surviving life with the best dudes I know, and out of our things that are never ending, this is number one.’ Ryan is joined by five additional band members in the Never Ending, including guitarists Kyle Moore and Carman Kubanda, bassist Edwin Carranza, drummer Johnny Franco and keyboardist Harry Allen.

‘My band members are my best friends and the most real dudes I have ever met. To know that I can tell them any side of any story without them judging.. is such a great feeling. Instead they help me communicate the stories properly. They have truly become my brothers.’

According to Ryan, the band will create video content leading up to the album’s June release, with the first waves of activity coming by April, possibly before. Throughout the entire process, Ryan is embracing her independence.

‘I looked at this album from an independent artist angle and I fought hard to remain independent. Seeing the success of other amazing artists such as Macklemore who did it this way makes this album feel more inspiring,” she said. “This is the most vulnerable and real personal thing I have ever done. I will take the hate with the love as I release this as an independent artist.’

I am actually excited about this. I’m glad she didn’t go the hollywoods record route and make a bunch of generic songs like everyone one disney.

her covers on youtube are pretty good.

    She is very pretty.

Normally, I’d be reluctant, but Disney does have some girls with nice voices that surprise me. Disney also has a BAD habit of only promoting their girls who have the most publicity (Miley, Selena, Demi) and the other ones kind of are pushed to the side. But in all honesty, their music ends up being better than the main girls (I know Miley and Demi have strong voices, but their music lately hasn’t been the best- there’s a difference.) like Emily Osment, who had a REALLY good album with “Fight or Flight” that I liked a million times better than “Unbroken” or “When The Sun Goes Down” or like Bridgit Mendler, who has such an underrated voice (she herself is painfully underrated) and whose debut album was a lot better than any of the other girls’ debuts, at least based on material. So, I’m hopeful for Debby Ryan. They’re spending a lot of time *trying* with Zendaya now (she’d be so much better under a different label, where she could shine at R&B without trying to be exclusively kid-friendly) so Debby could be a dark horse. I’m optimistic.

You should listen to it. It’s really good. She doesn’t have the “poppy” sound like Disney girls have. It’s slightly indie, slightly electronic. Really good lyrics. A slight sexual feel that completely works for her age and the tone of the album. If she wasn’t a Disney kid, it might’ve gone somewhere commercial like Ellie Goulding has. It would be on independent movie soundtracks and movie trailers and commercials. It was really overlooked. The best songs are “1-800 Clap Your Hands (The Water Is Rising)” and “Marisol.” But the whole album is really nice. A lot better than “Breakout” or “A Year Without Rain.” In my opinion.

even tho i’m a huge fan of selena, demi, and miley, i have to agree with this. disney really needs to promote all of their stars and not just the ones who are more famous.

  • Kylie

I liked her song “Open Eyes”. She’s not bad.

  • Dara

Surprise, surprise! Another Disney actress is going to be a singer too.
