Liam Payne ‘We Want More Male Fans’

Liam Payne believes that One Direction’s fourth album will win over new male fans. He told Capital FM: ‘People say we don’t work hard and it’s all a game and whatever. We just wanna make good music, and this album.

Honestly, every lad out there tonight who’s thinking One Direction are this and that. Literally, next album, pick up our album and see what you feel.’ Liam: ‘We have been writing away for the next album and rehearsals are just about to start soon for the tour. We’re not splitting up.

We’re on WhatsApp messaging each other all the time, talking about song ideas and just funny stuff from our day. It’s been a while since we have all been together so we are enjoying being back in each other’s company.’

NOTE: One Direction aren’t breaking up, solo writing is part of their process and they compare notes with each other to come up with final versions. TMZ: 1D still owes the label 3 records before they can even think about breaking up.

NOTE #2: @_kiana_leigh_ spotted Harry at dinner with Anne + Liam meeting!

    • boystan

  • Eva

I imagine the sales are going to be over the roof what with Biebers demise….

    • HaylorToU

Demise as in death? Nah if bieber dies I think his album sales would explode

      • Eva

You are so literal. I meant his death in sales… His past stuff hasn’t sold as much as it used to.

        • captainamerica

Still mature audience liked it. Judging by their comments his last album was good and mature. It only didn’t sell cause of his bad rep and lack of promotion. Too bad it had good songs there

          • GTFO

It’s pathetic how you stalk every post and see if they talk about Justin. Nobody wants you in this thread. Go back crawling to Justin’s STD infested asshole!

          • captainamerica

HAHAHAHAHHA. No kiddo, it’s pathetic how you call me out for posting my opinions which I will move on doing whether you like it or not dumbass, it’s also pathetic how you stalk me and my posts LOL. And oh that last sentence proves how low and idiotic you are. Grow some braincells little kid ;)

          • Eva

            lol… That escalated quickly..

          • Eva

I do not know exactly who you mean by ‘mature’, may you please illustrate? Do you mean people over 25 (if we take age to be a sign of maturity) actually bought his music and watched his movie?

          • hmm

Most ‘mature audiences’ don’t even like him and I would know from going out to places and hearing convos by ‘maturer adults’ (w/e the circumstance) nearby who’ve mentioned him saying in their own words that they don’t like him or cant stand him.

          • Eva

Thought as much… I can’t imagine any male or even female over 25 going to watch his movie…. I have even forgotten what it was called. lol

  • boystan

    why? you have me.

  • boystan

    aren’t i enough?

    • Duckyhoward15

You are his bf not his fan Boystan :(

      • boystan

        • Duckyhoward15

  • threelittlebirds

besides @boystan:disqus, i don’t think many males are into boy bands

    • Duckyhoward15

You know I have seen lots of men into zayn and Harry just cos of looks/style but not sure they like their music tbh

    • boystan

      only us gays tbh

      • Duckyhoward15

cos others are high and mighty and rude and jealous

  • Emmy

If they want more male fans then they’ve got to stop using those ridiculous songwriters like Julian Bunetta. Also, boys don’t listen to boybands. Also, men would most likely listen to one of them if the broke up. Liam has the best voice by a mile, so, he could make it.

  • Grammy Winner Taylor Swift

    How homophobic of homophobic Liam!

They already have TONS of “gay male fans”.

What he really means is that he wants “STRAIGHT MALES” to like them.

  • ikeepempressedt

They do have male fans… yeah they might be gay but, they do have some..

  • D':

  • Anna

It is a little homophobic considering they do have a lot of gay male fans. Others said straight males don’t listen to boy bands but that’s not true. A lot of straight guys like/liked fall out boy and other boy bands whose music isn’t too “poppy”. Also, a lot of straight guys I know enjoyed the song story of my life by them.

    • Mae

The only guys I see at their concert are the ones who’s accompanying their girlfriends.

      • anna

I’m sure there are gay guys at the concert. i know gay guys who like them. but i take back my remark saying it was homophobic. at a concert i can imagine its mostly girls, they do have guy fans, even if they are mostly gay, they just want more guy fans so a concert can be equally male/female

  • ikeepempressedt

I don’t think he meant it in a homophobic way. I think they all just want to seem as a real rock-indie band instead of a boy band, in which they are. I think they should be proud of being a boy band and proud of how far they’ve come with the fans that they already have.

You guys will forever be a boy band, get over it.

    • anna

they should be proud. but i think they can get out of the boy band poppy phase. story of my life did well. i don’t know how middle school boys handled it but the college guys i know enjoy it

      • ikeepempressedt

there’s nothing wrong with being a boy band. Its fine.

There’s lots of money and fame that goes into it. Yes, other bands are amazing and get artist cred but they don’t make nearly as money or have the amount of fame that One Direction have..

        • Anna

I know there’s nothing wrong with being a boy band but if that’s what they don’t want to be anymore then I think they can get away from it and still be successful

          • ikeepempressedt

            LMFAO! Girl, please!
Once a boy band, ALWAYS a boy band. Look at the Jonas Bros. They’ve been writing their own music and playing instruments from the start, but they’re still considered a boy band. Can’t shake that.

  • FuckHarry

It’s kind of frownd upon for straight guys to like boy bands and teen pop singers like justin, Austin, Cody Simpson ect… Who cares if not many guys don’t like you, you guys already have loyal fans that love and support you want more do you need.

    • Reid

Because in matter of two, three years those tween girls are gonna grow up and outgrown them all. Just like how teenage girls outgrown Jonas Brothers, Jesse Mccartney etc. But when you appeal to both men and women like bands such as Muse, Fall Out Boys, Paramore, your staying power is much longer because men tend to be more loyal fans than teenage girls.

      • HarryCurls

I can only see Harry have long career (solo)

      • FuckHarry

Yeah I know I was a huge Jonas brothers fan but when they took their break everyone kind of just moved on and lost interest including me, it’s sad I hope 1D beats the odds and stays around for a while.

  • Somebody

I’m pretty sure they are male fans out there..

  • lul

i think there are some male fans, I was on facebook which I hardly go on, when I was bored and came across each of 1D’s individual facebook pages and was surprised some people from high school liked one of them even a few guys 0.o and we’re all over at least 20…

  • JoeJonasTroops
