Perrie Edwards Racist Indian Photos?

perrie-edwards-racistperrie-edwards-racist-2Perrie Edwards posts insensitive Native American Instagram pictures.

  • anonymous

lol. i don’t believe in the theory of bad ‘appropriation’ so no. but in the case of selena and her bindis it might be more that she’s just fooling herself that she’s actually part of that culture

  • ikeepempressedt

Just like if you shouldn’t wear dreads if you’re not black, don’t wear indian/Laguna head pieces. It’s insulting and looks stupid.

    • anonymous

why do you think it’s insulting?

      • ikeepempressedt

It’s cultural thing. Only people who APART of the culture can do things like this. i.e: Black people and dreads, Native americans and head pieces.. And looking back on US History if you will, this is VERY insulting considering the British settlers took land away from Native Americans.

        • anonymous

i think that if it’s not part of a deliberate insult then it’s not insulting for anyone to ‘appropriate’

          • ikeepempressedt

            I don’t think she’s racist. She’s just ignorant. ppb

    • Marina And My Diamonds

I’m black and I think any race can wear dreads. I actually think they’re not attractive although many can pull it off.

      • ikeepempressedt

You know damn well white people CAN NOT pull of dreads. They look horrible and stupid.

        • Marina And My Diamonds

          Lol.

I personally have come across some white men that looked good with them.

          • Eva

IKR? So true!! I met one hippie kind of guy who had dreads and I was like ookkayy…. He was so fine.

        • Godney

yessss… they look so cheap lol.

    • honesty

Anybody can wear a hairstyle though. But I see what you’re saying.

    • Emmy

Personally, I am black.. I am not offended when I see people who are not black wear dreadlocks. That’s so nonsensical. Dreadlocks are part of the Rastafarian movement. I’m of Jamaican descent, I know. Dreadlocks is not a “black” thing because you’re basically generalizing all black people with that statement. I think the Native American head pieces are beautiful. People are so overly sensitive these days. I would find it offensive if she was trying to degrade their culture. But she’s not.

      • ikeepempressedt

I am Black AND Native american and I know that this is not okay. That’s why they took out every indian/native american mascot in the US. It’s offensive given the history of Native American people.

        • Emmy

Well, you do have a point with the mascots. I find the mascots offensive because they treat Native Americans as non-human. As for this head piece? I don’t think it’s even reaching those levels. I’d make more noise about a team called the Kansas City Chiefs than some girl wearing a beautiful head piece.

    • laura

      http://i-peed-so-hard-i-laughed.tumblr.com/post/83511337131/a-white-girl-wore-a-bindi-at-coachella-and-then

This might be an interesting read, it isn’t about indian head pieces so the context is different (I know that) but I found it quite interesting to read this so if you have the time (don’t mind the url btw).

    • Godney

The thing is that they dont even know what “indian head piece” means… that is really insulting to me.

Wearing a piece of a culture that you are not part of is insulting and people need to stop doing it.

  • http://zarriall-zombies.tumblr.com FuckHarry

Didn’t she learn from the last time she did this :p

    • Mehp

      Hasn’t she done
      The bani
      The sugar skull
      The American headdress (2)
      The dreadlocks

  • A

This isn’t the first time she has done something like this (if I am correct)
Is she racist.. No ? I don’t know maybe
    Is she ignorant.. Yes
Her and jesy are known for insulting fans.

    • BrokenArrow18

“Her and jesy are known for insulting fans”what

      • Mehp

They both have done it on multiple occasions, I’ve only seen about 2 of them but if you look it up you’ll see.

        • BrokenArrow18

          omg i didnt know

        • Duckyhoward15

Well didn’t jesy call Harry a manwhore and Leigh anne said zayn is the only pretty one this girl band is just so rude tbh

          • Pick

They are I’ve heard multiple times how whenever a fan goes up to perrie she would give them the nasty eye/glare at them then walk away, or say something awful. It has happen a lot on Demi’s tour.

          • Duckyhoward15

Did you see the gifs when she is throwing crowns that fans gave to her to her band mates she only acts nice when there is a camera around shame , I don’t know why Zayn is attracted to her , her personality sucks and her face is ruined by her make up :/

          • Pick

Yes, I have seen that, there is also a video where little mix interviewed fifth harmony and ally said y’all and perrie gave this little ‘ are you kidding me face’ then rolled her eyes a bit.
I think she was really beautiful girl, she wore natural to little make up, but at the 1D red carpet, i notice her lips were swollen, right after that everything turned upside down her make up over board, her attitude got flat out disgusting.

          • Duckyhoward15

I think she thought that now she is ‘going’ to be MRS. Malik she can do whatever she wants and it makes me sad cos trust me Perrie you are nothing and with you attitude you won’t be anything

          • Pick

Its been around that the whole ‘ zerrie thing’ is just pr for little mix to cross over. If you do a little research, you will see that every leaked photo, released interview/photo about zerrie has been the same day of some kind of release from her band.
From singles to trying to sell tour tickets.. But I could be wrong

          • Duckyhoward15

I used to think that its a PR and it does fits what I study but I still can’t figure out why Zayn agreed on it and is still doing it even though he does look upset when she is mentioned and why was he so happy when they asked him about his engagement in the tiu prem :/

          • Marina And My Diamonds

Didn’t Perrie say in the beginning she didn’t like Zayn or turned him down because she said she wasn’t interested in him and wanted to concentrate on her career? And admitted she had a crush on Niall?

          • Duckyhoward15

True , frist she said her fav is Louis and leigh anne said hers was zayn even after journalists told her zayn said he has a crush on her and that she is his fav she said he isn’t her type and that she isn’t interested in him then Niall later said he has a crush on the ‘blonde girl ‘ in little mix and she said she likes Niall and thinks he is cute then later some tabloids said they (Zayn and Perrie ) started hanging out then when she won she said she doesn’t have time for zayn and wants to concentrate on her career and that she turned him down then Zayn got kinda sad on twitter and kept tweeting these quotes about not letting other ruin you and we always fall for the wrong people :/

  • BrokenArrow18

    how is this racist idgi

    • Duh

Because its “culture appropriation” which is just BS to me..I mean if people are going to go as far to say you can’t wear clothing or symbols if your not apart of the culture then you might as well say a white person eating/making a taco is culture appropriation too. Lets just all stick to our own culture guys.

      • Godney

she is british… do you know what the british did to the native indian tho?! get the fuck out of here.

  • Becca

It’s fucking hilarious that just wearing something from a different culture and literally doing NOTHING ELSE is insensitive and racist. Everyone is so fucking sensitive.

    • Lily

The thing is, she’s wearing these culturally significant and distinct items as if they were merely a fashion statement. While it may not be her intention, she is belittling the value these things have to the people to whom it is actually vital to their heritage. Also, people already told her to not do it, and she’s ignoring them just because she thinks it looks cool or whatever.

  • swerve

No, everyone is NOT “fucking sensitive”. A Native head dress actually MEANS something meaningful, and it is NOT something for white people to use to play dress up. On sick and tired of white people thinking they can take and use any damn thing they please. It’s insulting when she does it, Selena does it, and when any one else does it. White people came to the Americans, stole the land from the Natives, tried to STRIP them of their culture and now want to use their sacred garb b/c it’s “cool” and “exotic”. Hypocrites.

    • Duckyhoward15

You know if they did for the first time we will give them the benefit of the doubt and say they didn’t know that it was wrong but when they do it more than once and get called out for it its just stupid and rude and trust me not just white people do racist and stupid things , normani the black singer in h wore a bindi which is clearly wrong to wear

      • anonymous

‘we will give them’? you mean you and maybe someone else. you can’t talk for any in a group of people that you don’t know

        • Duckyhoward15

I am taking about me and people who agree with me :)

      • Pick

Not even 10 min after normani got off tags she went on twitter and made apology for wearing it. Which made me like her more

        • Duckyhoward15

Same with Harry he changed his icon once people tweeted him but till now this ignorant person still has the two photos

          • laura

I feel like they should all be educated about culture and history. It’s really just because they don’t know shit about it..

          • anonymous

i don’t think you mean ‘educated about culture and history’. i think you mean told what you think is important

          • laura

I’m sorry but that last sentence doesn’t really make sense to me :s
But I definitely do mean that people should be more educated about certain topics. If people aren’t educated, they’ll be ignorant, simple as that.

          • anonymous

well they’ll be even worse if people ‘educate’ them with biases and support them not looking for the truth

it’s more important that people can find the facts to find the truth

          • laura

Well, they would find the facts if they educated themselves. I’m really not catching your train of thought here to be honest..

          • anonymous

if you agree that’s what real education is, then conversation over

          • laura

Being educated is about learning about culture, history, economics and so on. What exactly is your definition of ‘being educated’ then?

          • anonymous

finding the facts to find the truth about things

if people aren’t looking for facts then it’s not really education it’s agreeing with whatever you want

          • laura

But didn’t I just say that it is about learning facts? I know the education is different in America and I know they have a lot of censorship there but I find it quite odd that they’ll be feeding you lies about everything.

          • anonymous

no what most people don’t realize is that what they are told or teach themselves isn’t always factual or looking for the truth about what’s being talked about

          • laura

Then they are reading the wrong books and going to the wrong school, sorry.

          • Duckyhoward15

True and I also think its their pr team’s fault cos they need to check how they act in public what they wear and what they post its why they get paid lots and lots of money

          • laura

Yeah, that indeed is quite the big mistake on their part. I hope they all learned their lesson now though.

          • Duckyhoward15

Or they are doing it on purpose to make a buzz .

          • Pick

A part of me thinks, she knows what she’s doing as long as the attention is on her because as everyone knows this isn’t the first time she done this.

          • Duckyhoward15

Exactly I agree she wants some attention especially since their tour dates is out now and their new single need some buzz

    • Sophie

Fair enough, if you are insulted – but what you just wrote sounds very generalizing towards “white people”. “White people” aren’t the only ones who’re doing this. I just hope you know that, when people do this, it’s because they find it beautiful and are perhaps inspired by the culture and have no intention to insult people. But I do get how meaningful a native headdress is and agree that it is a priviledge to wear it.

    • anonymous

just because you or anyone else might have an emotional attachment to something doesn’t mean other people have to care about it. that’s a fundamental part of freedom of speech. and while some times in history some groups of people have attacked other cultures, it’s not happening to native americans now (but is to many arab nations), and that’s what really matters. even during the peak of the slave situation in america only 25% of families had slaves – that’s from census data. and people talk about ‘dreadlocks’ well they were used before by jews, hindus, and ancient egyptians. i guess at least some people would resent a group of jamaicans who had a reputation for smoking weed using religious symbols. but just as now, it’s irrelevant because the free sharing and using of ideas is important. and people talk about ‘white people’ doing stuff and it’s bad. well first that’s racist. second it’s blind to all the things people have done in their own cultures that is bad. sacrifice for example was still happening in mexico before english settlers. perhaps you forget that we all came from more primitive and harsh times. not all things that are ‘sacred’ were nice to other people

  • Duckyhoward15

When celebs know that this thing is wrong and they do it more than once makes me think that their PR team is stupid and they are literally retarded

    • Lily

Exactly. Like, I get it if you do it because you’re uneducated on why it’s appropriative, but after people from that culture try to educate you and tell you not to do it AND YOU IGNORE THEM AND DO IT ANYWAY… I’m sorry, but that makes you an asshole.

      • Duckyhoward15

TRUE , I wonder if they do it just to have their names in the news because till now Selena wear bindis and Kylie and Kendall too and now we have Perrie the only common thing between the four celebs is that they are fame whores and have nothing to give except pissing people off

  • A.U.

I just like Jade from this group. Perrie, Jesy, and Leigh anna just annoy me for some reason.

    • honesty

Jade is my favorite too. :)

  • Marina And My Diamonds

    She needs to stop.

    • Valerine

YOU NEED TO STOP, THIS IS STUPID, IS JUST A DAMN PHOTO! HOW CAN EVERYONE SAY THAT SHE’S RACIST? JUST CUZ SHE DID ONES? IF SHE PUTS THAT ON HER HEAD IS BECAUSE IS A STYLIST THING, NO CUZ SHE’S RACIST O SHE’S TRYING TO BE OFFENSIVE, GOD.

      • Marina And My Diamonds

Lol out of all the comments the one that says the least gets the boldest reply. Do I think she’s racist? No, I think she’s ignorant. Child bye. LOL!!

  • Emma Stone

Would have thought she learned from the last time tbh…
In her defence however, we aren’t taught about this stuff in England. I personally used to have no idea doing this was offensive, until I learned about it on the internet through comments of people complaining about celebrities and such doing it. She might still have no idea that what she’s doing is considered insensitive, although I would have figured she would have caught on by now since the first time didn’t go over so well.

  • Marina And My Diamonds

What makes it worse, she’s wearing it like she’s out in the woods. Lawd!

  • Grammy Winner Taylor Swift

No wonder Zayn always cheats on her.

  • BangBang

Wait, so she did it again? Giiiiiiirrrllll

  • http://radiants0ul.tumblr.com/ getlikemiley

Oh my god, i swear you can’t do shit anymore without people claiming you’re being racist. Maybe she just liked the damn head piece. People need to chill tf out.

  • Godney

i love seeing this type of stories and white people (mostly) saying “its not racist”

    • laura

      http://i-peed-so-hard-i-laughed.tumblr.com/post/83511337131/a-white-girl-wore-a-bindi-at-coachella-and-then

headpieces are a different story but idk I found this quite interesting.
That being said, I think it’s ignorant because people don’t know the meaning behind it but they’re not meaning to be racist, at least I hope they aren’t..

      • Godney

Yes, i understand the bindi thing, even tho i still dont like people using it just because “it makes it spiritual” as we seen vanessa hudgens put many times in her instagram wearing them.
I actually would like if people search a little about those things, its not like wearing jeans, (the jeans were not made to have a cultural meaning, as far as i know).

But this headpieces had not been “put out there” by indian, people outside of their culture took it to make it “fashion”, and the fact that this irrelevant girl (and the many other people) think its “ok” its wrong.

I would really be pissed if they think my culture is a “fashion” statement.

  • Chibiusa

    ugh no perrie why </3

  • cinnamon

i don’t get the racist thing. its like people want people to post racist things, there pulling at strings
