Bieber Japan War Criminal Scandal

justin-bieber-scandaljustin-bieber-scandal-2Lil Swaggy Baby posted photos of himself to Instagram posing at Japan’s Yasukuni war shrine. The shrine honors 2.5 million dead, which includes 14 convicted war criminals. Many in China and South Korea view Yasukuni as a symbol of Japan’s past militarism and see visits to it as a lack of understanding or remorse.

Another culture’mistake’ looks like its the easy new way to make a buzz these days

    • o

Just because it isn’t your culture doesn’t mean it’s not a big deal. You should respectful of other peoples beliefs, even if you don’t agree with them.

      • anna

its not that, its that he didn’t know any better because it wasn’t his culture. some countries are offended if you don’t burp after a meal or if you try to shake their hand. traveling can be hard that way, but i imagine you don’t get around much to know.

        • What the hell!?

You’re kidding right? This isnt about cultural traditions. Please google the “Rape of Nanking”. The men who perpetrated that monstrosity are buried at that shrine. When the NAZIS are saying you went too far and were too brutal, you know there’s a problem.

          • Marina And My Diamonds

I’m sure you Googled that and didn’t know before hand UNTIL this post. Let’s not point our finger just because one is on the receiving end.

          • What the hell?!

Actually I did know. I grew up in Japan and my grandfather fought with the allies in the pacific. So how about you not assume everyone on this board is ignorant to events that still influence the world today.

          • Marina And My Diamonds

            I’m sure you did. :)

          • What the hell?!

Believe it or not, it’s the truth. People do move around when they’re a military family. Grew up on NAS Atsugi.

          • Marina And My Diamonds

Oh that must have come off as sarcasm. No I was serious.

          • What the hell?!

Lol I guess it’s a sign of my cynicism that I still read your last post in a sarcastic way. No harm, no foul. But if this incident makes people read up on Nanking and the war in the pacific, I’ll consider it a win. The American’s main front was the pacific not Europe but its still not taught that much in schools. You think World War II, you think of Hitler. He was a huge part but so much more was going on.

          • Marina And My Diamonds

I can honestly say when I think of WWII I think of cold, hunger, blood and tears. Hitler is a last thought for me. The schools don’t want to teach the truth. That’s why they only provide half of it then call it American history like it’s the only history.

        • Godney

yeah, because burp after a meal is the same as visiting a place like that.
He prob didnt even know this place if someone didnt mention it to him. He should had ask what happend there.
Or you go to places just because?

      • Duckyhoward15

Are you serious ? when did I insult an cultures or beliefs all I said was BIEBER used this to make some buzz just like when selena and kendall wears bindis

  • Ayylove

Yet OC lacked to mention Justin’s Comment on Instagram about the whole thing, about how he was led to believe it was a place of Prayer and that he was extremely sorry to anyone he offended…

    • Ayylove

      OU not OC

  • Grammy Winner Taylor Swift

Oh my god! How terrible of him.

I can’t believe he supports the evil rapes and murders that the Japanese committed in China.

    • Nya

He didnt know AND he apologize

      • A

yeah he thought it was a place of Prayer

  • Eva

Wow… So apparently ‘he didn’t know’…. Kids, this is why we should stay in school no matter how much money we have. And thousands of idiots actually liked the picture…. I heard he didn’t sign the guest book, that is a relief.

    • Godney

he prob would have sign “i hope they would have been beliebers” lol…. poor kid… needs to educate himself if he goes to these “special” places

      • Eva

lol!! Now that would have caused outrage… I don’t understand though how he didn’t ask what the place was or seek any historical significance. If I went to the Statue of Liberty I would ask, who built it? Why? etc

        • Godney

          Thats what i am saying!
He prob didnt say “oh lets go there”, no, prob someone told him… why didnt he ask why?

          • rose93

Actually I’m not a Bieber fan, but I understand him. It’s your first time on a new country and you see an awesome “building” (sorry I don’t know how to call it) so you think I might never be able to see these place again so you take a picture, that’s it. It’s like we all know how many people died in coliseums and all but if you were at Rome I’m pretty sure you’ll take a picture, not because of what happened there but because of the amazing construction.

          • Godney

i dont know about you, but when i take a picture of an awesome “building” i ask “what is this place?”

          • Eva

            Me too.

  • Marina And My Diamonds

He should have asked what the place was. You don’t just go bowing your head and praying anywhere in the world. Some things are sacred – you could be banned in some areas just for being disrespectful and not knowing what you’ve done.

    • Godney

      THIS!,
you go and ask “what happend here?” or “why this place means something” idk, even little kids ask that.

  • laura

See, this is something I do not understand: you are rich, you get to go to the most amazing place, you can learn about their history and culture there which is SO much better than learning about it from books and yet you choose not to. I’d seriously kill to travel the world and visit all these fucking awesome countries and learn about everything that happened in their country..
